I have a load of things I want to rush out and buy... But I am also skint. (I'm a student on maternity leave ๐ so really really skint!) So week 1 prize was gait analysis and a new pair of trainers. Thought this was probably the most important thing to buy.
I was sold a pair of (expensive) insoles as although my foot fell in a neutral position, my legs were at an angle as if they were rolling in. However, despite loving my new trainers.. they are so comfy.. my legs and knees are hurting more with the insoles in than before. Is this just getting used to the difference? Or should I try without the insoles? I'm confused about the whole thing, really. Am I trying to correct something
Anyway.. I think a sports bra might be necessary for my week 2 prize ๐.

Ring the shop and talk it through with the person you dealt with. Sounds like you are correcting something but best to fully understand what so you know what is happening.
Did they sell you neutral shoes or supportive shoes? ๐ค
Yes, probably best to ring them. I was told all trainers are much of a muchness.. there are cushion or support but apart from that they're all the same. Which is why I only spent ยฃ30 on them! ๐

WHAT ARE TRAINING SHOES GOOD FOR:
High-intensity gym classes and outdoor boot camps โ cushioning for high-impact and run training
Weight lifting โ heel support so you can go lower into squats and then stand up
Strength training โ a training-specific last makes for extra space in the forefoot
Agility training โ grooves and outsole patterns for traction during plyometric and multi-directional movement
You can even do short distances on a treadmill. Anything longer than a 5K is usually better with running shoes for shock absorption..
Thanks so much for this. Can't see me ever running more than 5k but stranger things have happened. I have running shoes, which means he did listen when I said I was doing c25k and didn't like the gym. ๐
