I’ve got to week 2, run 2 and I knew when I started up that my very old trainers wouldn’t do me long. There’s a running shop near me so I’m planning on going there so I get something decent, but my question is- how much should I expect to be paying for a decent enough pair? Don’t want to get a huge shock when I arrive at the shop! Thanks

Time for new trainers!
They can be 3 figures... some stores will only have such shoes on display. They will also ask your budget as part of the process and often have bargains out back if you don’t mind having last seasons loud colours as opposed to this seasons loud colours!
They’re probably going to last you around 10 months... when you factor in the amount they help boost your fitness and the sheer joy some (if not all) runs give, they work out pretty cheap compared to sports that require equipment.
Depends on what you need (not want). I bought all my pairs through gait analysis guys. My feet look mental, l needed insoles and had them made for both feet and they are very different, and also needed something that would suit my style of running as well as terrain. The choice went from £70 to £250 and l got mine for around £90. Are they good and smooth and feel great? You bet. And the ones that l picked without seeking advise? I got injured wearing them. So. Seek advise and if not sure or confident with answers, go elsewhere. You want what’s good for you!
This guide won't answer that question but may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
I paid £120 for my first pair of shoes after gait analysis but subsequently bought the next pair of the same shoe for £59 online when they were last season's stock.
I was very diffident about going into a proper running shop for gait analysis - I went in W4. And they were lovely, and made me feel really ok about all the things that I didn’t know & had to ask about. By ignoring colour & following advice, I got a comfy pair that I am loving for about £80. They totally understood I wasn’t ready for the super-duper next level up at £££ more. But I think you have to be ready for the fact that careful specialist construction and fitting costs quite a lot. It’s an investment. Good luck.
It is considered good form to post picture of new shoes
Price range for mine was £110 to £175 but I said I didn't want to know the price until I had narrowed down the options. I didn't want to be influenced by the price. However I do appreciate that not everyone is in that position.
As you are going to a running shop I assume you are going to have gait analysis. Be super honest with your goals and the type of terrain you will be running on as this will influence the shoe they offer you.
You should find the staff member to be knowledgeable and friendly if not go elsewhere!
Happy shopping
Thank you for the replies. I’m a novice with a bit of a history of ankle, knee & hip issues (why am I trying to run? 🙈) so I’ll definitely be getting them properly fitted and not buying some online that get good reviews (as I had been thinking of doing!) Great to have an idea of prices to expect, thank you!! PS won’t be paying £250 though! 😱😂
My last 3 pairs have been between £70 and £90 if they helps
