I went and bought new trainers yesterday - there’s a shop near us called Up and Running, and they do the whole gait analysis thing - up until that point I have NEVER run on a treadmill - I have walked (and fallen off) so that was another hurdle overcome! The other good thing about this shop was that they encouraged me to go outside with each pair of trainers on to see how they felt on the road. Of the three pairs I tried on, one lot felt no different to the ones I had, one felt like I may as well have been running barefoot, and the last pair felt really good and supportive, so hubby treated me to a pair of Hoka Arahis! I wore them this morning and I can definitely feel a difference, in my “old” trainers, I did occasionally feel Achilles twinges but the Hokas definitely made that feel better!
Today was hard - especially the first five minute stretch, there were times when I really thought my body wasn’t going to let me go any further - the only difference was that today we started running about an hour later than normal!
The last five minute run was slightly easier and certainly felt like it went quicker but in no way was it easy today, so I suppose the main message is I feel more of a sense of pride because I pushed through the barrier and just kept on running!

I spent the last two days looking for trainers! I have big stupid feet size 12, so finding the right ones is always a challenge. Settled on some Skechers with air cooled memory foam. Did my very first C25K today so hard, but the Skechers helped a great deal.
