I'm nearly 70 have run on and off most of my life. How should I approach couch to 5 k. As am starting again after a while out of it. Have run 2k recently without stopping.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I can only advise that you stick rigidly to the plan. Slow and steady progress is the only safe way to build, or rebuild, a runner's body. We all have to accept that age has an impact and then do all we can, sensibly to ameliorate those effects, remembering that we tend not to bounce back quite so well as we age, so avoiding injury is crucial.

Enjoy your journey.

There are quite a few of us oldies here - I did C25k five years ago at 67 and I could never run in my younger days . Just stick to the plan - as a previous runner, your worst enemy will be yourself. :) Don't even think of it as "running" - think of it as "cardio exercise" . In time you will be able to reclaim the title of "RUNNER" :)

I’m on week six and 70 next birthday. Have never run before. The programme really builds up nicely and safely. Just follow it and you’ll be fine!

How's your breathing coming along?

I seem to be fine even though I have asthma. Find it difficult to remember to breathe in through my nose!

I wont bore you with all my ailments but I completed c25k last Dec. After that probably started to push myself too much as I now have achilles probs just after my first park run in April. Nursing the achilles along (plenty of RICE).

Restarted c25k and back on track.

Doing wk6 run3 on this Sat park run.

I've learnt my lesson and take every run very easy.

Just to add I was 76 this month.
