W3R1 brilliant!

Having avoided the bank holiday picnics in the park and the potential for mockery, I did the first week 3 run today. I’m amazed! I did it! And enjoyed it! Where did that come from? The thing that really helped was reading a post from someone who said that if you’re walking briskly, the jogging is barely any more effort.

I love this forum.

Yes.! I sometimes fine my jog is slower than my walk 🙈

I found week 3 really tough so well done.

I may find the next run awful!! Just nice to feel positive about being active after so long spent on the couch!! 😊

I love it too, so glad I found it

well done on starting week 3, nearly 1/3 of the way through, you'll be there before you know it

I have a sense that this is the baby steps bit! I’m just going to play mind games and tell myself if I can brisk walk it, I can jog it!! 😂

Well done, it's a brilliant feeling when you not only manage it but actually enjoy it too! Soon you won't give two hoots if anyone laughs, not that they would - people are generally very supportive, I find!

I haven’t dared to run in the park across the road. I’ll stick to being anonymous for now. Just getting smiles. Not sure if it’s: aw bless her, sympathy smiles or friendly greetings!

Wow, you are lucky to have a park right across the road from you! You'll be running in there soon I bet and you will probably be surprised at how "invisible" runners are, in my experience, people either totally ignore you, or say a friendly hello as you run past. And to be honest, if anyone did say anything mean then that says a lot more about them than it does about you. I was terrified of being spotted by someone I knew to begin with but I needn't have worried, honest!

Thanks. Yes, I am lucky. And it’s quite small but perfectly formed. One day I’ll brave it!! 😊

Once you can keep up the pace for 30min then you should think of speeding up. In thd meantime, jog/ brisk walk/ crawl... just dont stop. Just like you surprised yourself today, you will do many things during these 9 weeks which will make you feel "Could I have done that a few weeks ago?". So enjoy and all the best.
