Week 9, Run 1; woweeee!

So excited. Did run1 of week 9 and felt great. So close to finishing C25K I can taste it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜†πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. Finished on a slight downhill so upped the pace and ran an extra minute πŸ€ͺπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘. It really helped having my sons GF run with me, defo need to find a buddy or club 😳

I am noticing some minor niggles though; slight pain/discomfort in my inner right shin, some heat in my knee joints and a weird slight sensation that feels like a quick electric buzz on the top outer part of my foot. Should I use anti-inflammatory cream or just work through it?

Well done Dottie_D! But if you're having some niggles, maybe give yourself an extra rest day or two before running again and don't run any extra minutes - just stick to the programme. If you think anti-inflammatory cream might help, then go for it - can't hurt and might just help.

Thanks Debston. I am now planning on gate analysis as someone else has suggested that too. Fingers crossed new trainers will help. As for the pain, there is none when running it’s after I run and it goes off after a rest day.

Did you have gait analysis done?

Some of your issues could be due to incorrect trainers.

The "buzz" may simply be that lacing is too tight, your feet will swell more in the warmer weather.

I wouldn't suggest running through pain as in the long term this can cause more damage.

I hope that you can get it sorted out.🀩

Thanks, I will have gait analysis soon and hope that helps. The pain is really minor and only after running not during it, thankfully. And it goes after a days rest so I’m keen to finish week 9 this week. Maybe rest more after that before starting something new, C2 10K maybe or JuJu’s bridge to 10K 😜.

Well done on your run! I finished my week 9, run 3 yesterday too. It sounds like you felt a little less πŸ”₯ than me tho - my min 26-28 hurt so much then I felt fine for the last 2mins!?! Strange. Def have a good rest today - hopefully the pains will subside. Couple of ibuprofen? x

Well done on graduating. Have you decided what you’ll do next?

Think I got a bit ahead of myself(!) I did run 1 not 3!?!? Sorry. Two more runs for me......I probably will continue with the consolidation runs and work towards getting my speed up (I’m currently about a 12.5 min mile). When are you doing your run 2? I am thinking today πŸ€” x

Lol thought it was only me that got muddled like that. I’ve just done my 2nd run of week 9. It was tougher as I chose a slightly hillier route and ran a minute faster over 5k. Didn’t enjoy the run but loving the smug after glow and self righteousness πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‚

Did my second run yesterday too. I know what you mean about hills - they hurt but I think we need to push ourselves to get used to them because totally flat longer routes are gonna be rare! Well done on getting faster! πŸ‘ I am staying pretty much the same so that’s something for me to work on when we finish. I love the inner glow afterwards too!!! 🀩 x

Thanks and good luck with your graduation run too. I went out with a friend for yesterday’s run, hence being a little faster but didn’t enjoy it like I did the one before ha ha!
