Hello again... goodness me, the weeks are moving on...
Heading , hopefully, towards some warmer weather, with the longer, lighter days.
I am back up to running three times a week now, after time on the IC... slow and steady as ever, but finding my happy pace again
The number of folk on the forum increases daily...( the numbers are frightening), and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
If you have just Graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates., and the new Quest on here too...this month it is called..Spring Fever... and I hope we all catch it
One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can talk to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.
So, please do come and join the fun...slip off your running shoes and just let us know how it is going

I’ve just done the 9th run after graduation and managed just over 5k including warm up- not in 30 mins but I’m sooo much stronger and fitter and just love mixing up what I do- speed , distance, nothing- in- particular- see -what -I -fancy run.
It is nice varying the type of runs that you do isn't it purplewalker , it's one of the best things about running after graduation - although it's great being supported by Laura, or whoever you chose, it's nice to have the freedom to do what you want to do.
Congrats on your run this morning, sounds like it went really well! Don't worry you'll manage sub 30 minute 5k in time if you continue to put your mind to it 👍 I'll leave a comment on your post in a minute, I watched a short video recently on how to run a fast 5k that has some handy tips
Morning Oldfloss and everyone.... I have a crazy week ahead decorating, so starting Week 8 will be a welcome break from the plaster repairs and the paint brush! I hope it is sunny when I finally make it outside into the fresh air!! Happy running everyone! 😊🏃♀️☀️
Morning you... great non impact strength and stamina work there then ! And since you will be in practice for it... I have a bedroom that needs revamping
Hopefully the sun will shine when you get out there
well done for reaching week 3 missanticrowd , and I'm sorry that your last run didn't go as well as you might have liked. I hope today you keep rested and well hydrated and hopefully your 2nd run of week 3 will be much much better for you 😊👍🏃♀️
I’m getting used to not having the luxury of a ‘walk’ break. My legs do ache though and I dread to think what I look like 😂
Mentally, I find myself thinking oh great only another 5 minutes which is incredible when you think it’s not been that long since 5 min run was hard to contemplate. I’ve never known the last 60 seconds go so slow though 😂
This has been the best thing I’ve done for myself this year! I have found my running mojo and I have my body back 😁. I’m going to sign up for my first race at your pace next month and hopefully keep the momentum going through that as well as consolidation runs.
Morning Oldfloss and everyone else! I'm in week 7 at the moment; I did W7R1 yesterday. (It still feels weird to say that, I feel like I should still be saying week 3...) No problems at the moment, touch wood. I'm very excitable this morning because I'm expecting DPD in a couple of hours with my new fitness watch, I love having a new toy to play with! I'm making a break from Fitbit and going over to Garmin - I can't find an advanced fitness watch from Fitbit that doesn't look ridiculously huge on my small wrists, so Garmin finally gets my money after years and years with Fitbit. I'll have a couple of hours hopefully to set it up and play with it, and then this afternoon I'm off for a hike to give it a good test. Can't wait!
I've got the running bug, for sure, now... the days that I'm not scheduled to run are becoming a little frustrating. I'm still cross training of course, but looking forward to the next run. (I've just had to re-read that a couple of times to make sure I really said that. What has happened to me?)
Hope everyone's running is going swimmingly ... should that be 'runningly'?
I got the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music. A bit spendy, but I LOVE it. I've had a Fitbit Alta (non HR) for years, but wanted a bit more in the way of features, particularly GPS and music that wasn't dependent on my phone, so I ordered a Fitbit Ionic last week and really wanted to love it, but couldn't, so I sent it back. My Garmin isn't going anywhere .. except with me, wherever I go! So so so much information, and it was super easy to setup, way more straight forward than the Fitbit Ionic was. It also syncs with MyFitnessPal and MapMyFitness wayyyy better than Fitbit did. Just brilliant.
Well, I'm back off holiday this last week and redoing week 1 and 2. Think I've sorted the app now....kept stopping which led me carrying on for an hour instead of half an hour.
Over the last week quite happy with myself about continuing...all down to this forum I feel. As I've redone 1 and 2 a few times now think I will struggle with 5k in 30 minutes...not an issue I know. But right annoyed that I still sound like a flipping steam train going up Snowden 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hayfever still pretty bad for me so on my outside runs I'm doing week 5 (after taking plenty of meds & sprays!) and the interval running rather than straight running is definitely helping. I'm trying to do 2 outside & 1 indoor run a week. I hit the treadmill for a good straight run and managed 5k in 35.21mins yesterday at a steady pace. I'm happy that going back to interval runs hasn't hindered the 5k straight goal.
Hello I’ll be running wk7r2 tomorrow morning. I’ve surprised myself (and others!) by my determination. I still remember that first week. I struggled so much but here I am! It does work.😊🏃🏻♀️ The motivational comments from fellow runners and amazing graduates is such a great help too.
You'll be ahead of me, but I'll be right behind you on Tuesday morning. I'm sure it'll be fab, go for it (and make sure you let us know how you get on)! 👍🏃🏻♀️😊
Week 6, I have run 2 tomorrow! I found run 1 quite hard this week. Very heavy legs on the first 5 minutes. It got better though. I am finding myself in a more positive frame of mind now. I’m not saying I can’t do this anymore 😀 I know I can!
Hi everyone I am on W5R2. Very stressful week as my sis and brother in law involved in a RTA. Both ok but BIL still in hospital and sis has CHT. Sunday and only on run 2 but it was wonderful to get out there this morning with some me time. Drive safely everyone x
I have just finished the reruns of C25K and sometime this week I will start with the Stepping Stones Podcasts with Laura.
I am also continuing with UnfitNoMore's "100 pushups a day for a month challenge." I have now done 1,900 of them over the last 19 days, it takes 18 minutes, 10*10 reps lasting around 30 seconds and 9*90 second breaks between.
Good luck to all runners in The Great Manchester Run, whether running the 10K or HM, it's on BBC. 1 at 12 noon.
I’m starting week 9...looking to graduate on Saturday, heading to a parkrun for it and my daughter is coming to watch 😊 hopefully I’ll make her proud 👍🏻
Thank you ☺️ It’s her 18th Birthday that day too..going to have a post run birthday breakfast. Hoping it will inspire me to aim for the 30 minute 5K 👍🏻
I am on W6R3. Don’t know why but my last run was three days ago and my ankles are really swollen! Don’t usually suffer from it. I am not overweight and just had gait analysis done and got new runners three weeks ago so can’t be that. Been away this weekend so haven’t been out but would struggle to be honest!
It could be the rise in temperature... maybe a little water retention.. try raising your legs when sitting.. But.. we are not medical experts so, if you are concerned, and things don't improve... best to go and get it checked out
Wk3 run2 completed, going fine so far. It makes my chuckle how a little change in routine and the different timings means you end up running at different stages of the same route. I added another "blob" to my route to get it to 5k, but I think Im only doing about 3k at the minute. I know that's probably not an issue but I do want to try to get to the 5k and perhaps do a ParkRun at the end of this. MJs the dude, he says run, I run.
