As the temperature is set to soar today, I got out early this morning for my run and even wore shorts and baseball cap for the first time which was a good choice, even at 6am it felt warm. πβοΈ
Ran my usual route however the last 10 minutes of my run I developed a sore ankle which didnβt stop me completing my run however it was a bit painful the last couple of minutes and in the warm down walk. Hopefully all will be ok for my final run Fri/Sat.

Well done Anna for completeing that early morning run, despite your ankle being a little sore you kept going, even at that early hour you say it was a bit on the warm side.
At 9 am I am going to rerun the run you have just done, it will be the first 30 minutes run that I have done since last year, as long as the temperature is below 16C/61F I should be OK. Just looked at the 8 am temperature, just on the 10C/50F mark, so my guess is that by 9.30 when I have completed my run the temperature will be around the 16C.
Not long now until you graduate, I just hope your ankle will be OK by then and the weather by the time you run your graduation run is to be a little cooler.
I have just come back from a 4K walk this afternoon, this morning I reran run 2 of week 9, the first 30 minute run I have ran this year, very happy on how it went, not fast, probably about 40 minute 5K pace. I had the running belt on that I bought a few weeks ago at run4it, that comes in very handy especially in warmer weather.
You will be looking forward to to your graduation run either on Friday or Saturday depending on your ankle.
A very good Thursday to you Anna, that afternoon walk yesterday was walked in +24C/75F temperatures, I had planned to do it around 8 weeks ago and only a thunderstorm would have stopped me, luckily it was through a mainly wooded area so not too much sun beating down on me, the walk was very pleasant after the 30 minute run in the morning between 9 and 9.30.
Since the middle of January I have been in a walking club which meets every Thursday at 10.30am, it is devided into three sections, 1K, 2K and 4K distances, the 1K is mainly used by people with walking sticks, you can choose between the 2 or 4k distance, although the pace for the 4K is faster than those walking the 2K.
Right from the start when I joined the group, I told the group leader about C25K and graduating he put me into the 4K group, we got a new member this morning, Anne, she hinted to me that the group were walking a little faster than she is used to but she told me that she enjoyed her first walk with the group very much.
I think you are correct in not running your graduation run until Saturday at the earliest.
Be careful with that ankle...as someone who suffers thanks to my own stupidity (sprained it twice in 8 weeks last year) I have serious problems with mine, if you get pain, don't push it, it will set you back weeks. Try googling some sprained ankle physio tips to try and help you, it might help it to loosen up and reduce your pain before and after runs
Well done for getting out there! Got mine soon too!
Thank you for the reply. I shall indeed keep an eye on it. An extra day's rest may be required but I'm in no hurry to graduate. That's been the only twinge of pain I've had since starting so I guess I've been lucky.
I'll have a look on the web for tips as suggested.
A patient paper Achilles Tendinopathy from Nhs Oxford University posted on here in response to Jumpingfrogs by Mentor IDT a few weeks back is excellent guidance and understanding.
Even although it might not exactly be your problem and condition it gives a excellent understanding on how critical this area is and normally the greater repair time required etc.
