Almost there .... W9R2 ...

Well, its wasn't as glamourous as some of your runs, or some of my other runs for that matter ... I decided that I would play safe today, and make my second run on the treadmill ... my reasoning is simple ... I almost came a right cropper at the weekend, after some rain before W9R1, the towpath was wet and slippery in places, consequently .... I nearly ended up on my derriere, with my legs up in the air .... oooh errr Matron, bet you weren't expecting to see that on a woman .... lol

Anyway, serious now, the weather round here has been a bit hit and miss, and I didn't want to take the risk of slipping and putting my last run in danger ...so, under the bright, safe, lighting of the Gym, I hit he treadmill ...

Got the warm up walk out of the way and set off for my 30 minute run, in the company of Bargain Hunt and Eggheads ... the run went well, 10 minutes, half time, 20 minutes ... going well. Checked my heart rate a couple of times ... 118 !!!! thought that the machine was broken, but my Fitbit said 119 so I'll take that. I have a slow heartrate, usually about 58 bpm when I'm at rest, so it was actually going twice its usual pace ... 25 minutes came and went, and I was in the last minute .... bobbed the speed up to 10kmh for the final flourish and I was over the line ... 5 minute cool down walk and I managed to clock up 5.1Km, fair enough, it did include the walks at both ends which averages about 1km for me.

I wasn't running at my usual pace, and that's a big advantage of the dreadmill, speed is easily regulated ... one more 30 minute run to go ... :-)

I thought I might save it until Saturday, do a morning run, Graduate from C25K and do my Maiden Pontefract Park Run at the same time ... was thinking of having a little run on Thursday, just a couple of K's to keep me loose, but nothing too taxing, don't want an injury at the final fence ... see you all on the other side ... ;-)

Well done Christene. Sensible choice to run in the gym if you were anxious about the slippery tow path. We don’t want you ending up in the canal.

You’re so close to graduating now. The podium is in sight. Enjoy your run on Saturday. 🤗

Thank you so much Razouski Yes, the end is in sight, and I have to admit I'm getting a bit tense ... last thing I need is to trip in the dark or slip on a stone or pile of leaves ... and that's a subject I'm just going to put up a post about ....

Hopefully I'll soon have that Graduate badge ... OMG this is almost as exiting as getting my MBA from Cpt Jean Luke Pickard of the Starship Enterprise when he made a surprise landing at Huddersfield University ... ;-)

Will have to get a new business card printed ....

I'd be more concerned about coming a cropper on the treadmill... like my mate did when we were at the gym one day. I can honestly say that I have never laughed so much 🤣🤣

Really well done on putting another one in the bag.

ONLY ONE MORE...!!! 🤗 I'd come up and join you on your park run, we could both graduate in style, but you'd lap me twice before the finish line...!!! 😂

So close, so close.... good idea to play it safe today. Can't wait to read the graduation run post. i really like the idea of doing your graduation run at a park run. We don't have any where I'm from but they sound great. Best of luck on Saturday 😁

Good call re the treadmill - we definitely don't want any injuries (to your person or to your dignity!). The idea of doing Saturday's park run for your graduation, and taking a short run in the meantime to stay loose sounds good to me too.

And wait, what is this? Receiving your MBA from Captain Picard?! How did that happen? (He happens to have a doppelganger who runs through the forum in full on Star Trek lycra gear).

Jean Luke (Patrick Stewart) was Chancellor of Huddersfield Uni when I was there ... was great to meet him .... make it so, number 1

thrilled you're nearly there, dignity intact indeed! I can only imagine from your previous posts that you were as glam as ever even on the treadmill - but the important thing is ONE MORE RUN! And your planned interim jogette to pad the week out (good plan!).

Also ... Captain Picard?! Amazing. Love the business cards idea. Reminds me of Rodney and his dodgy abbreviations on his CV though :D.

Nice one Christene , I know only too well about the perils of towpath running, hence why I still have a niggling injury. Sounds like you've made the right choice. Really well done for this though, can't wait for your graduation post.

Oh - according to the readout on your treadmill, you have no pulse! Should we be worried??!

Thank you Hidden at first I thought I was just being soft, but its definitely the safer option ...

Good spot with the pulse, probably explains why my friend said I was like death warmed up .... lol but in truth, the pulse gadget only works when you are holding the grips, and I was 'free-styling' just then .... and you would see (top right) my speed is 0.8km .... :-)

in reply toChristene

HaHa yes I did notice that :) I thought.... 40 minutes? over 5k? 0.8km/hr? Something doesn't add up!

Well done again, can't wait for your graduation post now. You excited?? It's been quite a journey, hasn't it?
