Despite being a pretty good sportsman at school and university, I always loathed running. So to have completed Couch to 5k at the age of 49 is just so exciting.
If you'd told me eight weeks ago that I'd run 5k non-stop in 35 minutes, I'd have just laughed! But I did just that last week, having carefully worked my way through the plan.
The impact - physically and psychologically - has been nothing short of transformative. The challenge now is to maintain my motivation behind the plan itself - but I'm damn determined to do so!
To close (and I know this is a cliche), if I can do this, anyone can. Just invest in some some good running shoes (crucial) and kit that makes you feel comfortable, and get out there!

Amazing! I’m so inspired by this! Really. I’m so excited to be able to run 5km. The times bit too important to me for now but just running for the full 5km would be achievement enough. Do you have plans to do a fun run? Maybe that could be your next challenge- raise some money for charity? Well that’s my goal anyway, I want to run/walk a fun run in July..... fingers crossed I’ll be up to it! Well done though! I loved reading that!
Thanks so much. A Park Run is a definite and also exploring some local fun running clubs. Love the fundraising idea! And you can absolutely do it if I did!
I totally agree with everything you've said and I did 5k in 33 minutes yesterday. The plan is amazing and it's not until you actually do it you realise how great it is 😊
