I have completed the course but am so slow that even in 35 mins I only cover 3.5km. Anyone else a tortoise or can I have some advice?

Hello,

I’m really slow as well, never done more than 3.5 but the advice from those around me is that it doesn’t really matter how fast I’m going and to just keep doing what I’m doing and it will come naturally. I think in the future if I want to improve me speed then I’m going to try some interval training on Nike Run plus app but for now I’m just going to settle into running 30 mins comfortably.

Well done you...lots of consolidation and short and longer runs, new routes and maybe after a week or so the C25K + podcasts which are challenging but fun. Many folk try them to soon and miss the point of them...

It is, however, the long slow runs that continue to build up the legs, the stamina and strength... and speed and distance usually follow:)

That's interesting. I didn't know there were follow on podcasts. At what point would you suggest using them? After the 3 weeks of consolidation runs?

Indeed...two or three weeks and then give them a try... many of us used them and still do as part of other runs:)

It's a common issue for many of us. I am having to accept practice makes perfect and one persons perfection is not another's. How great that you are running for 35 mins. 👍

This programme is not about speed... this is about.. you... running at your own pace, enjoying the runs and staying injury free.

The idea of the plan is to run for 30 minutes after nine weeks...!

Unless you want to race at speed when you have Graduated..just relax, enjoy the runs and take everything in:)

You are doing wonderfully! There are so many tortoises on the plan and snails... I am Senior Snail Runner :)

3.5km in 35mins is 3.5km more exercise then if you had stopped on the couch for that 35mins. Your exercising and been active , well done

Took me 48 minutes to jog 5k on Saturday. I actually walk at the same speed that I jog (6kph). It doesn’t matter as long as you are doing it. Going to try and improve my time, but no matter how long it takes I will keep at it 👍🏻😀

I am taking it as slow as well. On week 8 - intend when graduate to continue on, as slow, to actually do 5k - then after that to actually look at tweaking the time, if I can.

In the end, the benefits of doing C25K are great and I am sure you will agree that you feel so much better.

I feel the extra walking I have also been doing has gone a long way to strengthening my legs and stamina anyway.

Keep going - it has all been so worthwhile.

Really well done 👍

Slow is good distance and speed may or maybe not come eventually the point is you're out running . Also if you scroll down to the bottom and see May graduation badge 2019 leave your name so you can get your graduate badge 😊

I’m slow as a slow thing, but it does not matter. One day I will reach 5 k but it will be at least 40 minutes. I don’t mind, I’m out running and enjoying it!
