W6R3 in the bag, but pace so so slow!

Hello All,

Today I've completed w6r3 and found the 25 mins running generally ok. Easier than I thought and felt I could run further. However, based on my calculations, my pace is very slow and no way would I do 5k in 30 mins. Any tips gratefully received around how to increase my pace without collapsing in a heap! Thanks

My advice is don't increase your pace.

Many many people here graduated without running 5k in 30 mins.

Concentrate on getting through the programme and running for 30 mins non stop, you can improve your speed when you have the strength and distance in your legs. You can graduate without 5k - think more Couch to 30 mins running to graduate.

There is a poll somewhere with stats...I think 80 % graduate without doing 5k in 30 mins

90%, only 10% graduate by running run 3 of week 9 in 30 minutes or less.

Thank you, sorry for the incorrect stats

OK, some later stats on more recent polls suggest that it's nearer 15% graduate at running 30 minutes for 5K than the 10% I mentioned on my previous post to you, the main thing is to graduate you have to run for 30 minutes 3 times. 😊 🏃

Just focus on running for that length of time for now, you have plenty of time to work on pace once you graduate, and move into consolidation.

Graduation requirements are that you run 3 X 30 minute runs.

If you look at this poll healthunlocked.com/couchto5.... you will see that less than fifteen percent of graduates manage a sub 30 minute 5k during the plan.

Relax and finish those runs.

You are doing great.

Great job. It’s good to be slower when you run further/longer. This plan is purely about getting you to 30 minutes of running. The time to work on pace is still at least a few weeks away, and that’s only if you want to. You’ll get to 30 minutes, and you’ll also get to 5k... if the two happen on the same run that’s cool, but it’s not life changing. Relax, run at your pace and keep reaping the health and fitness benefits.
