First run in two months

So I completed Couch to 5k on the 5th march and haven't been running since. I have taken up other exercise classes. Yesterday I decided to go out. I decided not to use the app as I felt like I would be going backwards. Unsurprisingly I have lost some of my fitness but overall was proud that I pushed myself to go out for a run and actually managed to run for longer then I thought I would. Even managed to sprint at the end which felt great. Moving forward I'm going to use apps that map my run in order to keep track of time and try to improve each time. Any advice would be appreciated!

That’s great to know that a little bit of time off doesn’t send you back to the beginning fitness wise. I’ve only just finished and I am planning to try Nike Run club app next to keep me going with goals and things. They have lots of guided runs for different times and training and called things like “don’t want to go for a run, run”

Good to see you back out there. Your running will improve with every run... don’t focus on pace though, that should only be pushed occasionally. Enjoy those runs... and I second the guided runs in the Nike app for all but race day... there’s a run for every occasion.

Did you do the consolidation runs when you finished in March?

No I don't know anything about them

There is a faq blog post which talks about them. Have a read. You could probably still do them now if you are still at that fitness level

Xx

When you build a good running 'base' it's surprising how long that lasts. After just 2 weeks of running you might be back to where you were in March.
