Hello. Please could I have some advice on running style please?
Have had to restart the programme due to a bust device.... The probs the other day probably heralded this ha ha.
Reading through the forum, I have found this "... If both feet are simultaneously off the ground on each stride, you are running." I think my style is wrong.... I seem to have picked up this bouncing flat footed... Step :abit like the film on the forum. Is this really running? My walking is actually faster.

Slow is fine..really..and your style..is whatever is comfortable for you..you run in the way you find it works.
However..do try not to bounce...slo,steady and gentle steps. Try to land lightly..I call it, kissing the ground with your feet😉
It sounds daft...but works...and as for both feet being off the ground simultaneously??? Some of us are absolutely elated if this ever happens...we post photographs showing our flying feet...it is that rare😊😉🏃♀️
I run as the mood takes me, but usually steadily and slowly and although I think about style, it is in a way that has become second nature.. and sometimes I go loopy! I found this old post of mine the other day...it may make you giggle..
Cheers Oldfloss... Really cheered me up! Just bashed me knee up on the restart... Carried on just for a bit as so frustrated. Just read for post... Really informative and jovial. Great.... Thank you 😊
My first breakthrough was realising my brisk walk could be faster than my run! I’m quite a fast walker, so my first few runs, I’d naturally go from a very fast walk & start running faster than that! Huge mistake! I kept getting out of breath & thought I was just not a runner. Once I’d slowed down, things improved. I saw the Japanese slow jogging film about W6 - and that changed everything for me. As Oldfloss says it’s a light landing you’re aiming for, gentle more towards the ball. If you saw the film, it is worth watching a few times as we can misremember or misinterpret what we see. The section showing the jump is good how to lan, have a little go at just that bit while watching it and compare it to what you’re doing.
Yesterday was my 6 months from starting c25k & I ran for an hour - this is only possible because of running slowly. It just works for me. I post the film a lot because I think it can help people in the early stages of learning or gets them over a hump, some people use it just to help them complete a run, or if a run is not going the way they want. They’ll probably work on their pace later and always be faster than me. But for some of us it strikes a chord and we stick with it. Just find a pace that works for you - where you enjoy the running. If we enjoy something we’re more likely to stick at it!
Thank you... And very well done for yesterday!! That slow approach really seems right for me so I'll keep relooking at the video as you say. Thank you 😊
