Today's run was, ahem, different...
I live in a very rural area. To give you an idea, we don't have buses, more like a stagecoach service; it turns up every couple of days at a time only the driver knows.
So, when planning a run, I have to make sure I have everything with me, and that I run somewhere I can get a phone signal if I need help. (At home, the best phone signal is achieved by standing in the bedroom with your hand and head out through the window).
Started my run, and couldn't work out what was 'missing'. I worked that out about 10 minutes into the run, when I put my hand up to my mouth to take a drink from my water bottle. No water bottle. It was still on the kitchen worktop. With no shops anywhere, this was going to be a very 'dry' run. Arrrgh.
The second disaster was soon after, when I noticed my running shorts starting to slide southwards. By way of bacground, when I did the C25k, I wasn't sure I'd stick at this running thing. Consequently, I didn't invest much money in running gear, and so my shorts were purchased from a well known grocery outlet. They have the 'designer' label of...cough, ahem...Florence & Fred. They cost £7.99.
35 washes in, the elastic decided to leave its earthly life. Ever tried to run while holding your shorts up? It's like a variation of the sack race, except it's for longer, and both legs can move. Now I understood why I forgot my water bottle, as I needed two hands to hold my shorts up. See? Everything for a reason.
Today, I'll be in the shops to buy new running shorts. I'll specifically look for ones that can be tied. Or carry string with me on future runs.
