Graduated a little while ago and today was the first time I couldn’t complete run!!

I began my C25K journey at beginning of the year and I’ve always managed to complete every week...sometimes difficult but never not finished. Today I struggled from the beginning (not unusual) but my legs were so heavy and once I’d got to 22 mins (instead of my usual 30) I had to stop as I was so worn out! I’m gutted. I have fibromyalgia (I run despite the pain) but not sure if I’m having a flare up as I’m so tired all the time. But I just can’t believe I didn’t finish today! Has anyone else had this problem?

Mind over matter though...I shall complete 30 minutes on Friday as I don’t want to feel this deflated again!!

As runners we all have runs like these they are part of the territory ☹️. I have them either when I am just about to come down with something or my thyroid levels have gone out. It is our bodies way of letting us know it is under pressure. It actually is really helpful as it allows us to rest up long before non runners do and take it steady for a while and let the body do what it need to do to make itself strong again. It is wise not to push through it. Take care of yourself. Rfc x

Thank you so much for your reply and your advice. I’m just scared if I stop for a while I won’t be able to get started again due to the fibromyalgia. Running has helped me so much and don’t want to go back to that place I was in before Christmas where I could barely move. I also know it’s about finding balance. Thanks rfc x

Yes I did this a week ago, I felt so tired, I think one of the reasons was because I didn't drink enough water in the lead up to my run, also I have not felt as enthusiastic since graduating so I've started repeating my week 9 runs with the voice over which has certainly helped as I definitely think the encouraging voice helps. I don't know if you feel the same but I just feel a bit deflated? I've been on such a high during this journey and I'm thinking maybe I need to set new challenges or find a running club or buddy.

Good luck with Friday's run hope the rain doesn't interfere.

Thank you so much for your reply. I did wonder if I have been drinking enough too..will

Up my intake. Yes I still run with my week 9 voice over as definitely helps me too. I was thinking of staring Park Runs. I registered a while ago when I graduated. Maybe you’re right and it’s tome to push myself a little. Thank you and good luck 😊

I started park run a couple of weeks ago after I graduated!!! It certainly helped me. I love it but would like to find a running 🏃‍♀️ buddy too. Keep going don’t give up you’ll regret it if you do 🥰

It’s definitely on my to do list...whereas giving up is not even an option. C25K along with healthy eating is helped me shift two stone since the new year. It also helps me mentally too. I shall carry on!!! 😊 x

It happens.

Were you well rested, well hydrated and suitably fuelled, relaxed etc.

All those things impact on our ability and enjoyment.

If you know they are not optimised, scale back expectations and take it easy.
