So this is new and scary but I desperately needed to do something to counter the at home working and my pool being closed, so having not run for nearly 30yrs c25k was my option. Lots of emotions throughout the runs this week, from terrified to relief. Monday will be the beginning of w2 and I’m hoping my breath and recovery time will hold out for the duration. Also hoping it’s not raining as that”ll be another new factor.

Well done for starting, that's one of the hardest parts. I know what you mean about about being worried but just keep going. One of the best pieces of advice I have had on here is - go slow. You should be able to run at a pace where you can keep up a conversation going. Here is a really good article of running slowly that someone posted to me. All the best. mensrunninguk.co.uk/top-fea...
Welcome 😊
Welcome and great start. I’m a big fan of that slow down to speed up article in the above replies. I’m also someone who had knee surgeries way back when and was told I couldn’t run anymore. Took them 30 years to let me, and in my case they were painful ones. The good news is, done right, this will strengthen your knees, not weaken them! Have a read of the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which covers all this and more. Strengthening work is only going to help with your knees... I’ve been doing them for 2 years... 2 pain free years will soon tick round.
Don’t worry about the rain... it’s refreshing and cooling (at this time of year at least) so long as it’s not too heavy it’s pretty pleasant to run in.
You can do this... enjoy your journey.
I did some research before starting because of knee and lots of articles talked around the benefits of starting slowly to strengthen the muscles around joints. So fortunate, because my tortoise pace is as fast as I go - hare vs the tortoise ...
Well done for starting out on the program.
You’ve got the hardest week out of the way! (I’m only on week 6 so can’t comment about the rest).
I found week 2 easier than week 1 which surprised me.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done for starting ... I found that something I kept putting off but once started I gradually got into my stride (no pun intended!)
I echo some of the replies below and I think week 2 was easier than week 1.
Good luck and well done again ! 👏👏
Well done for getting out there, Blowing_bubbles. I hope you have fun with the programme and the forum. 👣
