Tried a new route today for a change to spice things up and after about 15 mins had a steep uphill section which was tough but then 5 mins later an uneven pathway and another hill just about did me in. Had to stop and start again after a few minutes walk but finished in the end. That will teach me, will repeat again in a few days and revert to normal route.
Struggled with Wk8R2 today.: Tried a new route... - Couch to 5K
Struggled with Wk8R2 today.
It's good to try new routes though - I have my regular route but try to switch it up at least once a week so I don't get bored. Sometimes works well, sometimes think, "Well, I'm NEVER running that one again!" Uneven pathways can be even worse than the dreaded hills - who knew?
.....or have another go at the hills! Start slower. Do short steps on the steep bits. Tippy toe over the uneven path.
You can do it.
Time for hills can come later, but they are useful... We tend to say as you are moving through the plan, don;t do hills unless you have to.. and many of us have no choice
Maybe just stick with the routes you are happy on for now and then begin to put in hill work as you move on.
You are doing wonderfully
Could be worse. I changed routes and got lost in a suburban maze. Like you, I reverted to the usual route. The thing about hills is that in a car you don’t notice but running or cycling you sure do. Keep at it. Good luck
I had the same problem early on was wondering why through the woods killed me more than along the road, it didn't really look different in my mind until I looked at the floors and there were 16 more in the wooded run.
It's good to switch a route but might be best to tackle a more even one until you get your strength up. Good luck
I’m away from home at the moment and I have to finish with a loooong sloooow hill, I have to run past my turn off , carry on up the hill , touch the wall at the top then great joy travel back down. Hills , who knew they were even there! I ve driven up and down it many times, did not even think it was a hill. Still I know about it now and it must be doing me good !
Well done to you!
