Hi I’ve just downloaded the app, I’m going to start on the weekend I think. Do most of you run outdoors or on treadmills?

Well done, I’m new too. I’ve just done run 2 of week 1. I did run 1 on a treadmill and didn’t enjoy it much at all, run 2 was outside and although I felt a bit self conscious to start I enjoyed it much better.

There’s people who run outside, people on treadmills, people lapping their living rooms, people mixing it up in all kinds of ways. All welcome here 😀

I run outside because I love the outdoors and because I've never run anywhere else! It doesn't matter where you run, as long as you are running. Might be nice to do a bit of both and then you can see which you prefer?

I run outside and I love it 😁 but I haven’t tried a treadmill though. Try both if you can and see which you prefer. Good luck and slowly does it.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I have never run on a dreadmill, except for a gait analysis .........my boredom threshold could not tolerate it.

Enjoy your journey.

Hello 😊 try both and see what you prefer! I did the first 5 weeks on the treadmill and I felt really comfortable, I wasn’t really interested in going outdoors to begin with. As the running intervals increased though, I found that I was struggling with the treadmill because I was focusing too much on looking at the time and how long I had left! The last 3 weeks I did exclusively outdoors and that is my preference now but honestly whatever works for you.

Best of luck, it’s really exciting and you can do this 👏🏻

I'd love to be able to run outside, but unfortunately due to a very busy schedule, the fact that I'd have to drive anywhere to be able to run outside safely, and owning a treadmill ... it means I'm doing this on the treadmill. I've set up a shelf in front of the treadmill for my tablet where I play youtube videos of virtual runs during my sessions, which helps a bit. I even found myself saying "Excuse me!" as the camera careened towards a couple who were blocking the path in the video today. ;) It's also useful for pacing of course, I can set exactly how fast or slow I want to go. But I do plan on getting outside once this term finishes and my summer starts.

I did w1 r1 outside on Saturday and I did w1 r2 last night inside on the treadmill. I think I will use treadmill in the week after work and then outside on weekends. Harder than I thought, but I can't wait for w1 r3 :-)
