Hi everyone,

I completed my first run today and am on a buzz, was very apprehensive at first, but really hoping to lose weight and get fitter. I came up with all these tricks during my run such as, looking up at the sky, counting as I ran and marking pinpoints (park benches and bins) and betting myself I could make it further. So, I’m looking forward to Saturday. I have a bit of a dodgy knee now though, has this happened to anyone else before? It only hurts when I go downstairs, strange and I’m looking up healthy recipes because my eating habits really need to change. As a student all I do is sit, study and eat rubbish (for stress and comfort)! Anyone else in the same boat?

Hi interestingly my sore knees when going down stairs have improved slightly since I started C25K. I think my aches and pains are age related! I take each run at a gentle pace not overdoing it to avoid any injuries. I Don't look up to the sky much to avoid trips and slips and I tell myself as I can walk for a certain distance I can run it as well. For me in the early stages my run and my brisk walk were not much different in speed! Good luck 😉

Well done ! Great mental strength ...I just gritted my teeeth most days. Make sure you stretch properly! I don’t have knee issues. ...but I did ache all over at first because I did not stretch. See if going slower helps.

You are definitely on the right track with your runs; I run and then I ramble... looking around at everything around, and as you are finding this is fun, and it works!

Take it slow and steady.

I have a dodgy right knee. Now on week 6 and feel that with the running 3 times a week and especially with quite a bit of additional walking my knee is stronger.

Slow it down and be careful.
