Any complete beginners on here?

I’ve just finished week 2. I have never run before - only grudgingly at school in year 4. I’m unfit and overweight and wondered if anyone else was similar?

Take it slow and steady, listen to your body, ( which will almost certainly, grumble a little..) and keep posting for great advice and support:)

Also.. maybe check out our sister site...many folk on here, are on there also and find it works very well :)

Hi I started c25k 6 weeks ago and before hand I could not jog 50 yards I'm 40 next month 6ft 3/4. And at the start I weighed 25.8 stone with high blood pressure most of my weight got put on after I gave up smoking and for 5 years i played poker for a living so was extremely inactive some days no more than100 steps . Now and not just because of this program I have just completed week 5 run 3 after two attempts that's a 20 min run my gosh I'm shocking myself that I did it as well as this program I swim 30 lengths in pool on my running rest days to try get blood circulation in my Aching legs after running and I never in a million years expected myself to get this far in the program but it's addictive and I'm loving it and it is changing my life completely. So what I'm trying to say is I was felling probably exactly like you are now 6 weeks ago and was tbh scared that I would not be able to do it .. it's not easy in any way but the buzz I get when finishing every set run challenge is amazing get out there and smash it good luck look forward to talking agao in soon xxx

When I started running in May I had never ran before, not even for a bus!! I graduated in October and now I cant imagine not running ever again! I am now so much fitter than I was, I go to the gym 3 times a week as well and have lost weight but still could loose more but I am happy with myself and I know I am getting stronger and fitter each time I go out. Keep up the good work and carry on posting your progress x

Thank you everyone! It’s very inspiring to read your messages. Of course you’ve all been here! I think I was getting mixed up in my head with a local running club whose beginners group I had joined. On my first run out with them I kept hearing that people had done 10k a year before or that they used to do 5k park runs - so not real beginners at all. I never thought I’d ever be a ‘runner’ but weirdly I am enjoying it.

As others have said, we were all beginnersto start with, some graduates stay around to support newbies which helps continue the cycle of support from like minded individuals.

You are doing great, keep posting so we can celebrate, support, encourage . 👍🏼

We all started on week 1, Run 1 and the majority are pretty unfit when they start, so you were in good company.

Well done, keep it up.
