I had this also early on and wore ankle support , still do when running no ankle pain at all now 😊😊

I’d recommend gait analysis. When I had mine done they said I over pronate - like 70% of us - which can put strain on your ankles and knees. Going slow is also the right idea (I’m a Japanese slow jogging fan), with time you’ll build muscle and bone to make you a stronger runner do it might lesson as you progress. But as Buddy34 says some support now, perhaps better running shoes, and slow and easy.

Please read the advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... in respect of minimising impact.

Take care.

Had similar in Week 4/5 due to not having proper running shoes. Not sure what you’re running in but that maybe the problem. I rested for 3 days and then was a bit painful for a few runs with ankle support but then went away. Good luck!

thanks jelly-bean 16, I bought a cheap pair running trainers online just to get me started as I honestly didnt think I would keep it up but have surprised myself, still hanging in, did run 1 week 4 today and got real buzz finishing. Think you correct in suggesting proper shoes might pop n treat myself in running shop. Ankle pain not too bad at present still wearing elastic support to run but have slowed pace down too

thanks for advice ☺️

I hope you get sorted as horrible running in pain and worrying can’t complete especially when doing well and enjoying it. Good luck and I’ll keep an eye out for your future posts on how you get on.
