Also is the NHS Strength & Flex an app and is that good for toning abs for example?

Personally I don’t rate the 10k apps... but you can use your run tracker with ju-ju-‘a magic 10 plan that is to be found on the Bridge to 10k forum here.
Strength & Flex isn’t in an app. It’s a full body equipment free workout, though it uses benches so it’s good to do in the park. Come and join us on the forum, there’s a lot going on other than the 5 week plan, we are setting goals and working towards them.
I worked my way up to 10K by slowly building up 1 long run per week. So start with 3 x 5K runs per week. Then pick 1 run , and add to it each week, add 500 meters per week. So for week 1 do 2 x 5K runs and 1 x 5.5K run. Week 2 do 2x 5K runs and 1 x 6K run. In 10 weeks you’ll be running 10K.

Hi I thought like you at first but then thought I can do this myself. A fellow runner here suggested staying at the same week 10 for a few weeks to build up stamina and then to increase one run (probably weekend) by 10% time. I have done this and I am now at 50 mins on my long run. It is a gentle increase each time and it seems manageable just like C25K overall. It is working for me and I think your body adapts to this nice gentle increase without touch wood...no injuries. Good luck with your 10k journey
