I am currently working my way through a 10k plan because I have signed up to a local 10k event in May. I last ran 10k in December 2017!
Today I needed to run 8k. I set off early, at 8am, because it was due to be another very warm day. How different from NW Scotland, didn't even need my jacket! What a glorious morning for a run, a real treat. The trail (an old railway line) is flat and partly shaded with a river on one side and a heritage railway line on the other. I could see beautiful blossom on the hedges and trees, smell wild garlic, hear the river bubbling and birds singing as I ran along. A nice steady pace, nice steady breathing - feeling good. The route is out and back so I run a steady, comfortable first half then after turning round try to push the pace a little. No dog power today (too warm) but pleased with my pace. I love that feeling when your legs just keep going without having to think about it!
8k planned - 10k achieved!! I did extra stretches and a cool down walk back home. Feeling very pleased and happy π

Yes, it is a really lovely route π. I have adapted Ju-ju's 10k plan. If you go to the Bridge to 10k forum you will see that she starts a new post regularly so folk can support each other. I had to adapt it slightly because I only had 8 weeks to the event.
Wow skysue16 ...I feel like I want to run this with you!!! What a joy this run sounds?! There's nothing nicer than a good route and robot legs...legs that just want to keep on running...great running my friend, you have achieved something amazing x
Hi Winter76, I see you have recently graduated, many congratulations π. Continue running regularly and enjoy. If you feel like running a little further or for longer remember to increase very gradually. See my reply above about Ju-ju's 10k plan. All the best to you.
Thank you, and good luck with yours too! π Photos obligatory! πββοΈπ π
Iβve entered 3 races, which is completely alien to me as I disliked running with a passion up until June last year when I embarked on C25K! Exciting times. πππββοΈπ
Well done on your 10k skysue26, it must have felt quite special to be back at that distance again! That looks like a beautiful place to run too - it's a great feeling when the legs just keep on running!π
Thank you Oldfloss. Yes, definitely noticing the difference in temperature and lack of horizontal rain I am so pleased to get to 10k, and even more amazed that the time was very similar to my pace in December 2017! Luckily the route in May is flat
These accidental 10ks just keep happening. It sounds like you just had the perfect run on a perfect day. Well done . πββοΈπππΎπ₯π£π₯
