So, it was hot, it was humid with a few spots of rain!
My support crew ( my daughter and grandson) were out on the course as Daddy was Marshalling for Park Run as daddy has a 1/2 marathon tomorrow!
My aim for today was keep it steady due to the weather conditions! As a precaution I had already had a Zero High isotonic tablet before my run as it was going to be a sweaty run!
I met up with my lovely friend Maggie who is recovering from a heavy fall last week which saw her having stitches in her lip for a 2nd time in a year!
Found some more of our run club friends and friends from another local group!
So off I pop for a very warm run managing my pace as I didn’t want to over cook it! As I run along I give words of encouragement to a little girl with mum & brother who is all for giving up! Then on over the humpback bridge and on the the dog leg section of the course ! Where I fine my son in law marshalling at 1km mark! I say to him I like his new car which I spotted in the car park so I new they were around! Then on up to the oak tree turn point and back passed the Son in law!
Then it on under the railway bridge and through the woods along the river to the 1st set of bridges then on along the river to the next set of bridges which is where I meet the 1St set of runners on the way back giving them a congratulations for their achievement ( how they run that fast I do not know). Then on through the woods again and out onto the lake section by which time passing loads of runners heading back to the finish! So on I go still running and still having that war in my head say you need to walk with the other part of voice saying no you have got this you now you can do it! So off round the lake section and round the top end of the lake which marks the 2.5k and back down the north side of lake looking at all the geese with their goslings out on it! I am still running as I head back through the woods back over the 2nd set of bridges 3km down 2 to go! Back along the river and over the 1st set of bridges back towards the railway bridge which I know is about 4km where I catch up with one of my friends who has just taken a tumble but is back on her feet and check she’s ok as I jog on by, back to the dog leg bit as see my son in law has now been joined by my daughter and grandson ( 2yrs). They clap me as I pass and again as I run back for the humpback bridge then on to the race course ground and the final 500 metres where my run club friends are waiting to clap me over the line! Yes I have just run the whole 5k for the 1st time since January and post shoulder injury which was a fabulous feeling! Walk back to meet up with daughter and grandson who runs up to cuddle grandmas legs we then head back over to the finish line to clap my friend Maggie over the line as she has walk/run it to build her confidence back! It was a lovely all be it hot park run! In 46:29 not a PB but my aim was the run it all and run to the conditions! Yay!
