Glorious day for a run - new route

It is a couple of months since I have run (walking everyday with Squiggy of course). Sorting out things in our new home, family visiting, walking holiday, illness and Christmas!! But yesterday we had a day to ourselves and what a beautiful day - clear blue skies, sunny, no wind and dry so no excuse. Gear on and off we went to explore - hubby cycling and me and Squiggy running. New route - an old railway line. River, fields and distant hills on one side, heritage railway line on the other. Really lovely. After about 3k of an easy, flat track we arrive in a small pretty village, turn onto a lane under a railway bridge and onto a brand new extension of the trail - perfect for walking, running, cycling, pushchairs etc. A wonderful community effort. We stop for a rest on a bench made out of a railway sleeper then hubby suggests going back (since I haven't run in a while). we can explore further another day. On the way back Squiggy tried to race a steam train so my pace increases briefly 😁 then returns to a gentle trot. So a lovely 6k run, 10k in total by the time we had walked back home - wonderful.

Happy running everyone!

I sure did; 2 were even with my hubby! Now I’m on a weeklong holiday where I won’t be able to run but that’s ok. It’ll be a nice break and then will get back to it in the new year 😊
