Oh my ....

Just done first run , think I have sweated around a gallon of liquid and am not a pretty sight. Have always found running difficult and get out of breath after a few strides (still a smoker which doesn’t help but am hoping the couch to 5k will give me willpower to stop and get better at running)

Found it really hard but managed all of the runs , I say run in a loose term as I swear there were people walking faster than I was running 😩. Luckily they were going in opposite direction or they may have overtaken me ...

I’m struggling to see how I will be able to run for more than 60 seconds after today but onwards and upwards !

Next run will be on Tuesday , I really hope I can find the willpower to keep this up and see the health benefits.

you sound like me 9 weeks ago. I swear I nearly died on that first week and thought NO WAY am I going to progress. Then something happens and the achievement of that first week pushes you on. Good one you have started so many people think about it and then do nothing. You will get there during the weeks ahead. If I can at 65 you can BELIEVE!!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Sounds like you have got the pace just right.

Enjoy your journey.

Congratulations! The first run is definitely the hardest. I completely struggled on that one - running felt hot, and heavy, and utterly alien to me.

I promise it does get better (gradually) and I also promise that you will be ready each week for the following week's challenge.

I hope you do keep going - it's really changed my life in such a positive way and I'm sure it would you too. :)

Well done on completing your first run! That's the hardest step for sure. I tell myself every week that i won't be able to complete each week and here i am fresh off completing week 5 - you CAN do it :-)

When my husband, who was still in bed, asked me how my run went this morning I screwed my nose up and said "Only did 5k today".

He nearly fell out of bed laughing.

"Just before Xmas, on your first outings, you never thought you were going to be able to run 5k!"

Good point 😉

You can and you will! Don’t worry about speed - you’ll find loads of us on the forum whose shuffle/jog/run is probably slower than their brisk walking pace. You’re among friends here! Enjoy!
