Week 7 Run 1

As soon as I awoke this morning I fell into my running gear. Failure to do so would have been catastrophic as I had already pushed back yesterday's run until today. As I went through my mental pre run body check though I became horrified thinking about the junk I ate yesterday. Whilst the Diddly Squat crisps were simply gorgeous I shouldn't really have followed through with sausage rolls, scratchings and chocolate. Blimey!! Bad boy 😆

After the warm up walk the real battle began. The first 5 or 6 minutes were challenging to say the least. The gremlins were really out in force, especially when I went past my house but they were not going to defeat me.

I knew I would be ok if I could get through the toxic 10 and so it proved as I gradually settled into a nice gentle and slow rhythm. My end goal was simply to get to the end irrespective of speed and "beating" previous metrics.

For the first time this time round of doing Couch I decided to run naked. Previously I had been using my tunes to get an indication of how far was left to run - one and a bit songs and I should be near the end 🙃

As when I was running previously I found running without music was a great change. Just me and my thoughts. No distractions.

Half way through just two lots of 5 minutes and a little bit to go. Easy peasy. I know I can do this was my mantra.

I timed the run to perfection as when Laura told me to stop there were 3 welcoming benches by the memorial. Oh yes, thank you.

PS as a special running treat I've just had the last sausage roll 😋 🤣

Happy running everyone.

🍏what do we do with a naughty boy like you!! 🤣🤣🤣 I think as you complete the programme you are going to want to change your diet a little 🤣 Enough said as I scoffed some dark chocolate yesterday!!

You certainly conquered those gremlins!! Knowing about the toxic 10 is so helpful and helps you to start a run slowly… always leave enough in the tank for the end. You tackled this run really well! Well done!! 😊
