Blisters blisters blisters

On week 7 of C25k and can’t seem to shift the blisters on both of my feet. Stuck between running through the pain or resting and letting my feet heal. Got some decent trainers and tried Compeed blister plasters but still in a lot of pain. Feel guilty for not running and don’t want to loose my fitness when I’ve got this far. No pain no gain or rest? Should this be a reoccurring problem?

Rest, definitely! Let them heal or they may become infected.

I use savlon on these kind of problems, other creams are available.

Unless you are running 10k or more each run (not likely on this programme!), your problem is likely to be that your shoes are too small. My running shoes are two sizes bigger than my normal shoes. Your feet expand more the further you run, your shoes need space to accomadate the expansion.

Good luck runner!

Only running about 3k that’s why I can’t understand why I am getting blisters when I’m not even running for long. Thank you for the tips - new trainers are a must then I think!

No pain no gain doesn’t apply to running... it’s more no brain no gain here! Rest and let them heal.

Buy good socks too. I play netball regularly and have had my fair share of blisters, blackened toes etc over the years. Years ago I discovered those sports socks that have 2 layers and haven't had a blister since. I'm at W7 now too, and around W3 made a mistake of wearing normal socks for one of the runs, and although I didn't get a blister I did have some rubbing which made my foot sore. Good socks is the way to go!

That’s brilliant thank you, I will give that a go once my blisters have heeled. Hopefully with resting I won’t loose my fitness. We are so close yet so far being on week 7 - good luck with your running. We can do this!

Yes... we can!! Just back from W7R2. They say that you don't lose fitness for 2 weeks, but hopefully you'll be back soon. In the meantime, enjoy the break. Let us know about the socks!!
