If they are open, go to a specialist sports shop and get a gait analysis, also get proper soaks to match the recommended shoes.

I have blister free socks from M&S, I'm sure other brands are available.

Sorry to hear about the blisters, they can be so painful. Compeed blister plasters are really good, you can pick them up from Boots or Superdrug, or any big supermarket. 😊

With regards shoes - I don't know how much difference there is but I treated myself at the start as an incentive - went to a running shop got my stride checked then bought some on line for 75 (as opposed to 150 if I wanted a pair in blue - why would people pay twice the price for a colour?) - a lot for me but I figured for a year ot 2 why not?
That said, if you are just starting and getting heal problems -the simple solution is to start by getting some thicker socks - nothing fancy just not thin plus some thick material plasters - the type that comes in a sheet and you cut off the amount needed - they stay on better than normal plasters and I have always used them for squash in the past where there is a lot of ankle movement and hence blister possibility.
