The Let’s Get The Party Started Quest

KWeek Four, sorry a little late this week, I have been busy getting the Stregnth and flex forum sorted. How has the Quest been for everyone?

Please feel free to join in if you have graduated. We will be running these Quests every week so don’t worry you can join in any time after Graduation, it doesn’t matter when it is even if it is just for the last week.

Also please join if you have graduated and are on the IC, I have found reading and supporting other runners when I am on the IC helps to keep my motivation up and I like to still feel part of this community so if you are on the IC put your name down, we will support you all they way back to your first run.

Here is the explanation of what the Quest is.

What the quest is:-

The quest last for a calendar month

You can join any time within that time.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

My advise to you is to make your goals achievable as it is very easy to get discouraged if you aim too high. It is better to aim a little less and feel great at the end of the Quest and add some more in for the next Quest. Motivation is at its best when you feel a sense of achievement through something you are trying to do.

Please don’t forget that all the forums are here for your benefit. They are set up to help with questions and queries as your progress on your running journey. Feel free to join any or all. You will find different levels of help on each forum, so well worth a look around.

We have the Bridge to 10km - this forum is for runners who need a little bit more technical advise than is offered on the C25K.

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto10k

We have the Marathon Running and Race support.

Again this is another step up in the type of advise that is offered and it is there if you should ever need it.

healthunlocked.com/marathon...

We have the Strength and Flex forum, which is set up to help you with the NHS stretches and Strength workouts. Squats, lunges and the like are all in these programs.

healthunlocked.com/strength...

We also have the Active 10 which used to be called walking for health. It is a great forum for sharing your walks on your days off or if you are on the Injury Couch.

healthunlocked.com/active10

Please feel free to have a look round all the forums but also keep in mind we need your help for new runners so you can support and encourage them on the C25K forum as they learn to run, so they can come and join us on these Quests once they have graduated.

Happy running to you all

I can’t wait to see what your Quests are going to be!

Realfoodieclub, Oldfloss, Millsie-j and Roseabi. X.

Been a busy time for me, hence the late post. I have my 2.5km swim on Saturday, I feel like I am ready for it just, My thyroid went under so I have been coping with the effects of that as well but even though I changed the dose on Monday I am hoping it won’t affect my event on Saturday. I would like to pick up a little more by then If possible. 😀.

Have a great week everyone.

Good luck with the swim! I always think it is a bit like treadmill running, which is why I have to have my 'virtual' swims to keep up the interest.

My Quest is going pretty well...

That said, I've achieved one of my goals which was to record my eating on at least 16 days. There were a couple of days at the end of last week where that was hard to do... and I didn't... but otherwise it's been every day.

Yoga's picked up so I am currently at 13.

On target for my 8 swims and 8 runs. There was a problem with the pool when I went yesterday so I hope they won't need to close all of it before I get my last swim in. It's been quite liberating having a number of times to go rather than a distance to achieve overall. My runs have been quite short so I need to keep an eye on that when the next Quest rolls round.

You always have well thought out goals, it sounds like they have helped to keep you balanced this month. Well Done. Rfc x

I have now completed 38 miles out of 50 for race at your pace this month. Not as many as I would have liked, got struck down with a cold and quite honestly 50 miles is a tad too much! I'll complete 45 miles by Sunday but that's 45 miles more than I would usually run a month so still feeling pretty good about it. I'll try again another time!

38 miles so far this month that is a great achievement, well done. Rfc x

I think these overall mileage targets can be hard to gauge but as you say, you've won this one easily really if the aim is to run more.

I’m at 42.28 as of today .. I’m thinking 2 more runs, fingers crossed I may just make it, we will see. But as you have said, we have done good to do what we have, pat on the back for us both SofiaO. 👍

I'm cheering you on to the finish line! I missed another run tonight as so exhausted and don't want to risk injury. Still time for 2 more runs though!

Well... I may have to quit running! I said I’d quit if I didn’t make 100k and I’m on target for 90. Ok, so I won’t quit and I’m happy with my mileage... it’s not worth trying to sneak an extra 10k over my remaining runs either as I don’t fancy taking April off injured. My target was dependent on my running plan not adapting for speed, and it did just that with a cutback mileage week appearing.

So, ambitious target will be intelligently missed... and I can go at it again in April.

Well done on your Quest, I would say number one goal achieved, learning your limitations and adjusting accordingly, one of the biggest things we can teach ourselves in running, much more important than pace or distance.

Thanks... I did surprise myself when I let it go... I had the plan written and in the loo door, so I could have just followed the original plan, but i chose an adapting plan for a reason, so it’s best to do what it says I think.

I’m at 42.28 miles out of my 50 miles target, still 3 days to go so I guess 2 more runs should hopefully cover this. It’s been tough getting there though, but fingers crossed, I’m almost over the line. 🤞🏼

Great job! Have a good couple of runs to complete and celebrate that big victory.
