Hi. Welcome to week One of the

Welcome to the Quest, I know we have had a bit of sunshine and rain to deal with, but it still important to keep hydrating in the heat.

The C25K Quest which has been up and running, ( pardon the pun) for a couple of months now, is proving to be very useful...but it would be great to see a few more new C25K Graduates joining in.

This is a great place to think about where you want to move forward to...

It is apparent from many of the posts which we reply to, that folk may feel a little lost after Graduation. It is tempting to move on too quickly after Graduation and quite a few folk feel that they take backward steps or are doing something wrong when things don't progress as they think they should.

This is a terrific place to find the advice you need, read other folks' goals, and to encourage each other as you move on to the next running adventure. Listen to some of the seasoned Graduate too, they are a bit further on in their adventures and may be able to give you more in-depth information:)

So please feel free to join in if you have graduated. We will be running these Quests every month, updating weekly, so don’t worry you can join in any time after Graduation, it doesn’t matter when it is even if it is just for the last week.

Also please join if you have graduated and are on the IC, We have found reading and supporting other runners when we are on the IC helps to keep motivation up and helps to still feel part of this community so if you are on the IC put your name down, we will support you all the way back to your first recovery run.

Here is the explanation of what the Quest is.

WHAT THE QUEST IS:

The Quest lasts for a calendar month

You can join any time within that time.

The main aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

We ask that you are a GRADUATE.

The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the programme your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train, ultimately, for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the Quest can talk about how things are going.

Our advice to you, is to make your goals achievable, as it is very easy to get discouraged if you aim too high. It is better to aim a little lower and feel great at the end of the Quest and add some more in for the next Quest. Motivation is at its best when you feel a sense of achievement through something you are trying to do.

OUR OTHER FORUMS

Please don’t forget that all the forums are here for your benefit. They are set up to help with questions and queries as your progress on your running journey. Feel free to join any or all. You will find different levels of help on each forum, so well worth a look around.

We have the Bridge to 10K - this forum is for runners who need a little bit more technical advice than that, offered on the C25K.

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto10k

We have the Marathon Running and Race support.

Again this is another step up in the type of advice that is offered and it is there if you should ever need it.

healthunlocked.com/marathon...

We have the Strength and Flex forum, which is set up to help you with the NHS stretches and strength workouts. Squats, lunges and the like are all in these programs.

healthunlocked.com/strength...

We also have the Active 10 which used to be called Walking for Health. It is a great forum for sharing your walks on your days off or if you are on the Injury Couch.

healthunlocked.com/active10

Please feel free to have a look round all the forums but also keep in mind we need YOUR help for new runners, so you can support and encourage them on the C25K forum as they learn to run, so they can come and join us on these Quests once they have graduated.

So, please do come and join the Quest...Your Forum Needs You!

Happy running to you all... stay safe and stay running:)

My Quest for this week is to keep going with my little weekly routine. Even when my other job gets really busy, which it always does this time of year. So 2 runs, 1 swim and 2 gyms for me, dropping the extra gym when I am ultra busy.

Have a great week.

My quest this month is to refind my mojo- I know I left it somewhere lol. I checked under the sofa and in the dog's bed but no luck. The last few weeks at work have been very busy and tiring and the trains have been on summer timetables so my normal 2 hour commute has been taking we well into the third hour : (

I will be on holiday from Wednesday and I'm taking my running shoes. I will be 100 % outside and hoping to feel the running love 💘 in between shepherding 3 adolescents and 2 dogs through various activities.

Fingers crossed I can get back into it (even though I am still running, I didn't stop just procrastinate a lot)

I will have a look out for your mojo too and throw it back your way if I find it 😀. They can be pesky little things sometimes, a change of routine sounds like the perfect solution to get you going again, good luck. Rfc x

Thank you !

Whenever I misplace mine I find it in my left running shoe... not so much the right one... don’t know why. I have to put my left one on first to run.

Leftie ?

Seems so... I’ve always done that when going running, but not with other shoes

Snap! It's weird - one day I accidentally put my right one on first and actually took it off again so I could do it in the right order. Madness!

My quest for the month is to do more running than last month, and to complete 8 miles on one of them. I’m on target to hit 10 miles running each week and get my long run to 7.

Good luck to everybody.

Great Quest, nice and steady increases, I’m sure you will get that long run to 7. Rfc x

Oh poo! Just wrote all my stuff on the previous post! 🙄 Still running three times a week, except when it’s ridiculously hot. Also doing weekly Parkrun, and have also registered for Race At Your Pace, for 15 miles. 😊

I hate doing that 😀. I do it often 😂. 15 miles that is a great goal. I love their medals, they are big and chunky. Rfc x

My quest this week is to do my Garmin Coach training runs (heading out shortly), with the goal of running a 35 minute parkrun on the 17th, which will also be my first parkrun. Exciting stuff! My closest parkrun is 40 minutes away, so I really couldn't be bothered to go if I was going to jog/walk the thing - I can do that much closer to home without worrying about tripping over someone else's shoes! Therefore I had to set myself a goal, which feels just as challenging as week 9 felt in week 5, honestly - although the Garmin Coach programme seems to be very confident that I'll manage it, based on my performance so far.. who knows how accurate that is? Anyway, it's an easy run today, 35 minutes at my nice slow week 9 pace.

Still SO bizarre, thinking that I enjoy running, and I do.. I miss it on rest days. And the effect it has had on my favourite hobby, hill walking, has been tremendous - I'm much fitter and more sure footed. Garmin Coach was a great follow up to C25K, between them my fitness has been transformed. Why did I wait until 43 before doing this??

Sounds great, I’m looking forward to hearing about your first Park Run. I love off road walking and running is a great cross trainer for it, I would struggle with some of my walks without being fit because of running. Happy Running. Rfc x
