We're all amazing

I've been giving myself a hard time because I'm so slow doing my 5k, this morning I suddenly thought why? Is it because my two friends on strava both have 3 decades and 5 stone on me so my times look puny in comparison ..... perhaps. Is it because my fellow c25k participants talk about 30 minute 5ks? Perhaps. But mostly I think it is that I don't appreciate what an amazing thing I'm doing to be able on a beautiful morning to get out there and actually enjoy what I can do. Whatever it is, however far we go and whatever our speed we're doing something great for ourselves so yay us!

Very well put! There are plenty of people that don't get to go outside (pain, depression, fear etc etc)... it is a privilege to be able to move about never mind run - even if it's slowly... and we get to take more in at a slower pace....

You are so right, I had one of my best runs this morning just because I decided to enjoy it for what it was freedom and headspace good for body and soul 😊

Totally agree, it's not about the time, or distance, it's the fact we are doing more than before and that's an achievement, especially when you can appreciate where you are running. I am trying to change my mindset to "I love running" and I think it's beginning to work!

Spot on.

A nice run in great surroundings is the best way to get and stay fit. Pace is for race days, and we don’t even have to enter those.

Strangely I did my best pace yet this morning yet I didn’t give it a thought I just enjoyed it ( well most of it) 😂😂

That usually means you hit a good steady rhythm... I love those runs.

Great post, I will never be a 5km 30 min runner but I will always be a happy runner 😀.

It’s the key I think, but never say never 😀😀

You are definitely amazing ! I don’t have a 30 min 5k but I can run for 28mins which is much more than I had in Jan when I couldn’t jog for a bus !!!! 🏅

I can't do a 30 minute 5k either but I can do 5k .... and enjoy it but speed and time is immaterial which is what hadn't really clicked for me until today. Look what you're doing in less than three months 😊😊

I agree, getting out there is the biggest achievement, the rest is just a bonus.

Perfect! So well said! I am desperately slow but so lucky to be able to be out there and doing it 👍

Brilliant post! And that’s what it’s all about, enjoying our own journey!

I’m terrible for comparing what I think I should be achieving over what I actually have achieved ...6 months ago I couldn’t run for 3 minutes let alone 30 mins 3 times a week I now manage. I’m still slow but I enjoy myself immensely 😊

I saw a great quote on another post today “comparison is the thief of joy” this is going to be my new mantra whenever I start comparing myself!

Absolutely! Well said Micey! I was admiring you the other day for saying that you were running 5k! Tomorrow is the first time I am going to attempt a 45 min run which you have been doing for a while now. Its not about the distance but about stamina. I don't know about you, I didn't start this with the aim of being a fleeting gazelle! I think I have a fasting cadence - I enjoy running to faster music for example but only for intervals. There is no way I could do a sub 30 min 5k at the moment. I do aim to be able to run 10k which I never would have said back in Nov 18 but I have no aspirations to do it in a certain time.
