Week 2 What Frequency?

I've just completed week 2, run 2. When I started out I thought I would run 3 times a week, Sat, Mon and Thurs. Now I'm wondering if every other day might keep the momentum going, what is everyone else doing? Will it be too much at this stage? I've lost a lot of weight over the last 18 months and since mid December I've been walking for fitness and doing 10k steps a day which I'm pretty sure has helped my transition to running. I'm enjoying my runs, got up at 5.30 this morning so it's not a chore for me!

Some people do run every other day making sure they have a rest day inbetween, a lot depends on your body and other commitments . I run just the 3x a week, Mon, weds, Fri or Tues, Thurs, Sat. It all depends on how much I've got going on that week. Just make sure you don't run too fast in the first weeks, they build up your fitness ready for the long runs.

That was a tip I picked up from here, slow and steady so that's what I'm doing, if I find I'm speeding up I slow it down again!

I ended up switching my music off one week as I found I run too fast with it on 🤣 now I get through lots of audiobooks!

As long as you have a rest day between runs you choose when you want to run

Completely up to you and what fits with your life. I did find that I sometimes needed a two day break as the runs got longer and I was tired. When work/life was busy, a 'week' might take me 10days.

One of the great things about this programme is that it is really flexible and easy to follow.

Hope you continue to enjoy yourself :)

That's good advice, I may well need longer in between once the runs get longer..

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I did C25K running on alternate days, but many find the longer runs sometimes require extra rest days.

Enjoy your journey.
