W9R2 - taking a few minutes’ break

Not a great run today and I know exactly why - I wasn’t hydrated enough. I knew it was a problem only a couple of minutes in, but hoped it would be ok... and it wasn’t.

After 20 mins I passed a pretty church which also has a water tap in the graveyard. I had a little water, went inside and chatted to God for a few minutes, came out and had a bit more water, and then ran with no problem for another 15 minutes. (And my heart rate monitor showed a much more even level for the second run).

So I will probably repeat week 9 until I can do 30 minutes three times in a row, but my question is, once I graduate and can make my own decisions, how much difference does it make if I run, pause for a few minutes and then run again? Or do you only get the full benefit from non-stop running?

Well done... you knew what the issue was and you corrected it, and then ran some more. You say not a great run, but you learned, so in a way it was. Hopefully God is doing well with her running too.

The ideal is to get to 30 minutes plus of cardio... and if walking was brisk, 10 run, 10 walk, 10 run would deliver that... so in respect of health you can do whatever you like post graduation. The beauty of this plan is it was quite close to 30 minutes of cardio in day one!

It really depends on your running ambitions, but after graduation & consolidation all plans will be more varied, intervals are very much possible to fit into them, many already have them.
