I have managed to cover 5k twice on my runs but like you it includes warm up and warm down. I am contemplating not starting Strava in week 9 until the runs start to get a better idea of distance covered in the run. Did roughly measure on Google maps and believe I am around the 2.8 mile mark so pretty pleased.
