Darn and blast - W8R1 postponed

Well, I officially won't meet my target graduation date now (but not for want of trying!)

Did parkrun on Saturday as my W7R3 and then a little bit of hill walking on Sunday in the sunshine. Sadly my achilles has been playing up quite badly since then. Advice yesterday from the sports injury therapist was to cut back running to 20 mins but given the discomfort I'm in, I think it's best if I drop back a week and properly rest.

On the plus side I'm over 20lbs lighter than when I began this journey, so it's having the right effect. :)

Oh fiddle!

While it’s a shame you won’t meet your target date, it’s not going to change the end result of this programme, so nothing is really lost... you could use the Julian calendar to get the lost days back anyway 😂

You’re being really sensible and even erring on the side of caution off the back of the physio’s advice, which I think is very smart.

Great to hear about that weight loss... your nutrition is obviously on point.

Nice and gentle next run... you’ll soon be back heading at that graduation.

Thank you for such a positive post. I'm so conscious that I don't want to have to stop for weeks on end! :)

Sorry to hear about your injury and delayed graduation. Congratulations on the weight loss and well done for taking the advice. I'm glad you're playing it safe. I hope you heal fast, but you're doing the right thing by listening to your body xx

Yes, I think so. If I can't walk without discomfort then I really don't think I should be running!

That's very sensible. My Mum snapped her Achilles tendon, I know it's not fun. Lots of rest and gentle movement. Good luck with your recuperation xx

If I may, dont worry about taking a bit of more time. Your posts are very inspiring and it shows that you will stick with running no matter what. All runners get injuries, you will get through. Rest, you have earned it.

Thank you so much. :) I hadn't realised I was inspiring but I've been told that a few times since starting. Wow!

I've always been taught set your goals in concrete, dates in sand ☺ Frustrating but you'll get there.

Sorry to read about your injury troubles but glad to see you’re doing the sensible thing n resting it until it’s better. I have no doubt that you will still graduate n that’s the bit that’s important, not when you do it. Take it easy n you’ll soon be back!

Thank you. Yes, I shall graduate once my body starts playing ball again! :)

So annoying to have to be so sensible! Grumble, grumble. ☹️ I think you are being remarkably philosophical. Well done. 👍 The running will wait, and serious tendon injuries can take ages to heal, so you are surely doing the right thing. 👏🏼

Thank you. I'm lucky that I have easy access to a clinic at work so at least I am getting advice and treatment. And I have to realise that c25k isn't the goal... it's the entry ticket, so no use killing myself before I get started.

You're right to rest. Let's start an IC band. I presume you play the piano?

Your weight loss is impressive, a huge well done.

I hope you're well again soon.

Yes, indeed. I like the idea of the Injury Couch Blues... should probably write and record that! Yes, I play and teach piano (and cinema organ actually). Do you play? :)
