I changed route last night and ran to my local pub which happens to be 1.5 miles from home, (little tip - don't run to your local watering hole, it's heart breaking running away from it again without consuming a drop).
My overall pace was a few seconds a mile slower than the last few runs, but I ran for 3.01 miles without stopping, that's 4.84km - so close to magic 5k I could have kicked myself!! As for running time - 30 mins 40 secs.... I accidentally did a W9 run!! Although frustrated by not hitting 5k - I'm still very pleased with myself.
Like a lot of us on this "mission" I have doubted my abilities along the way, have forced myself to go out on dark, wet and windy nights, and have even thought about quitting completely, but in 8 weeks I have come from a semi active 49 year old man who likes a pint, to become a runner who can run to the pub and back (without going in).
To anyone reading this in the early weeks, believe all the good words on this forum, you can do this, it might not be graceful, it might hurt, frankly it may be a bit sh*t at times, but in your own way, at your own speed, you will do it.
