Congratulations! Don’t knock that pace... if you’re running 4.25k that’s anything but slow for a couple of months of running. First... celebrate your achievement, you’ve changed your life and that’s huge. The next thing to do is to consolidate your progress by running 30 minutes at least a few more times... when it’s comfortable/easy it’s time to move on.
There are many apps out there and it really depends where you want to go next. If you want to run for longer I’d say to extend one of your runs by 3-5 minutes a week until you hit 5k and then follow Ju-Ju-‘s magic 10k plan on the Bridge to 10k forum (on this server) as it’s by far the best plan I’ve seen as a follow on to C25K... most 10k plans out there assume more running experience, and the couch to 10k apps aren’t structured in a way to transition you into varying the runs up and cross training. Whatever you do next, enjoy every run.
You can continue with the B210K podcasts but before that run 6/30 minute consolidation runs.
Congratulations on graduating here on C25K with week 9 run 3. 😊 To get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username leave a message on the February graduate post in the pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked C25K home page and tell the administrators that you have ran W9R3 of C25K 🎓 🏃 😊
Congratulations on your achievement 🎊🎉🎈!!!! As everyone else has just said, you should take a few weeks to consolidate and then start adding a few minutes each week. This post by IannodaTruffe : healthunlocked.com/couchto5... is a good source of ideas. Once you have consolidated a bit, if you are a Laura’s fan, the C25K+ are a nice option.
A few of us here use also the Nike Run Club app. On top of the normal mileage, etc counting it has a collection of guided runs to choose from (different durations, coaches, etc) and you can play your own music at the same time.
I did W8R3 this morning and broke the 4K barrier for the first time (just at 4.09K lol) so my W9R3 won't achieve the 5K either but that's fine by me - my first target is to graduate from W9 and then go for the 5K target.
I currently use the Nike Run Club to measure my distance so will see how close I am to the 5K next week and then just go out and try to keep going until I hit it - then I might just keep repeating the W9R3 for a few weeks just to keep in the groove and maybe target an increase in pace rather than distance - see if I can bring the 5K to within the 30 minutes over a month or two.
Well done snow pony. Don’t rush the process of getting up to 5k. Still a bit by bit process at this stage. You will have choices to make soon; good ones😊. Do you want to build up speed or distance for example? There is loads of advice around to keep us all on the right lines. But today?....it’s party time !!👏👏🥇🥇🍾🍾🍻
