Finally did week 9 run 3 yesterday. I still don't enjoy running but I guess I can call myself a runner again. That said, aside from the last 5 mins, when I couldn't wait for the run to be over, it wasn't too bad-hot, but not too bad.
I liked running a few years ago (quite a few) then trained for the great North Run and hated it and stopped running. It's taken about 5 years of stop start to finally finish C25K.
Anyone doubting themselves or the programme, don't. I was out of breath running for 90 seconds at the start, I'm still out of breath now but can do 30 mins 😃(need to work on breathing, doesn't matter how slow I go I'll never hold a conversation!).
So my C25k journey ended up managing 2.6miles in the 30 mins, so now I want to build on that to feel consistently confident running for 30mins then work up to the 3miles.
Keep going, some weeks can feel really really difficult but you will get there.

Good post and run from you AMCP74, so you hated training for the Great North Run 😂, anyway a big congratulations on graduating from C25K, who knows you might try run another Half Marathon, not necessarily the GNR, now go and celebrate your wonderful achievement on graduating from C25K with 🍷 and 🎂.
Congratulations on finishing again! Loads of people use c25k as a comeback and it’s great that it’s obviously worked so well for you. Celebrations needed! 🏃♀️❤️🏅💪🎉
I’m interested that you didn’t enjoy the Great North Run-I’ve got a place this year. Was there anything in particular that put you off? Being really negative about it is absolutely fine-it’s always good to get different perspectives.

It wasn't the atmosphere or anything to do with the GNR itself really- that was good.I liked, and I mean I actually looked forward to going out for 3-4 miles a few times a week but when I signed up for the GNR I had to up the training to longer and longer distances. I didn't enjoy running for that period of time or that distance and it totally put me off running and after the GNR I just stopped for about 3 years. The GNR itself I twisted my knee around mile 3 and half hobbled half ran the rest which didn't help.
I am not a natural runner, it took a long time to enjoy running the first time round, and trying to do more than I enjoyed unfortunately took the love for it away.
Thanks for that. Totally understand-I think my natural happy distance is shorter than half marathon and I don’t usually love the long training runs.
Glad you’ve come back to running now. The great thing is that it’s big enough to find what works for the way you like to run. Wishing you lots of luck for whatever comes next!
