Parkrun Wk6:2

So chuffed! Did my Wk6:2 run today as my first ever parkrun. Finished 883rd (but out of 1459 runners) and actually finished sub 30 mins. Did half my warm up 5 mins before the start so basically the course was 2.5mins walk, 10 run, 3 walk, 10 run, 2 walk then saw the finish so ran to the end! Next time I’d do all the 5 min warm up first, as it was so busy and it was difficult to pick my way through the pack. Great fun though and plan to do it again next week when I’ll be on run 7:2 so 25min total run. Can’t believe how well this app has worked- I love it!

Wowsers, that’s a busy old parkrun.......oh, isn’t it THE one where it all started....that explains the popularity! You did really well to get that time, you speedy thing you! 👏👍

I love parkrun, can’t imagine being in a group that big for a trot around the park though 😂🏃‍♀️.....

Yes, it’s the original venue. It was rather crazy but an amazing experience!

Wow! That’s a HUGE turnout! Well done for getting round and under 30! 👍

It’s at Bushy Park, the original parkrun venue so it attracts a load of visiting parkrunners, hence the huge huge numbers!

Excellent time, you have not completed C25K and you have ran a sub 30 minute 5k at a parkrun, congratulations. At that pace you will certainly be able to run, run 3 of week 9, your graduation run in under 30 minutes, that's only achieved by 10% of people who have completed C25K. 😊 🏃

That would be lovely to do, but we’ll have to see if I can keep the pace up over 30mins nonstop running. I’m amazed to be honest, as before C25k the furthest I’d ever run was the 800m at school around 40years ago 😂

I know that feeling... I was telling my son about my 16 second 100m about 35 years ago! (he wasn't impressed)

That was quick - I remember mine was 18.3s 😂😂

If your son wasn't impressed about that run 35 years ago he should now be very proud of of his mother who has ran a sub 30 minute 5k. 😊

I am aiming for the Bushy Park Parkrun - you are already there and speedy! What was it like under foot ? I was a bit worried about it being muddy and therefore hard work!

The first 1k was the worst as I was walking most of it, and the path narrows significantly with mole hills either side, so had to watch my footing. My trainers got pretty muddy but it was fairly firm underfoot. I’m planning to go again next week and do it again. Parking is an issue so unless you want to arrive an hour early, you’re better off cycling or getting a lift or parking in a car park a little further away. Good luck!

Thank you - great tips!

That's a pretty rapid time especially considering you walked some of it and you're only on wk6. Amazing

Fantastic HM! Wowsers I knew Bushy Park was popular, but that’s a mahoosive turnout! Sounds like lots of fun though!

So glad you had fun and you’re planning the next one already! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
