First parkrun done

For Week 8 run 3 I decided to try parkrun!

Wasnt sure how to do it along with couch to 5K but I still started with the 5 min warm up walk. Which meant I was almost last in the field. But that’s ok. The run was fantastic and I just kept going to the end. I did my 5 min warm down walk after I’d done the 5K.

It was a magical feeling to join in and get around. My time was 35 mins. Not bad !

Did week 9 first run two days ago. My knees really hurt. Not sure why. They still do today. Maybe another days rest is needed ?

Well done and glad you enjoyed it.

We always recommend that if you are mid programme that you stick to the plan and do warm up and cooldown along with your C25k workout and resist the urge to run for longer.

Ah that’s good to know. Thank you. And could account for my knee pain ? I did push myself on Monday ( week 9 first run ) and got a good time. But my knees are still aching and uncomfortable today. Due to run today but should I rest more ?

I was running every other day. But have changed to 2 days rest in between now. Knees were sore too! But a 2 day rest works wonders 😁 Enjoy!

Hiya

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I love running now and all of the benefits I get from it. I would hate to have to stop because of sore knees !

I’ll try more rest between runs. Thanks again. 🏃‍♀️

Well run Alexandra. Fab time too!! If your knees are still aching, take an extra rest day. Hopefully nothing serious 👍🏻

Hi and thank you v much for replying. I really want to keep progressing with running so I’m going to try two days off between runs. I enjoy it too much to give up. 👍🏻🏃‍♀️

I’ve had problems with my knees & ended up having to take two weeks off. There are links on here, usually in pinned posts by IannodaTruffe re knee pain & other info. If pain persists then it may be worth seeking medical advise. Other things to consider are gait analysis & on the back of that, the most suitable running shoes. You may have done all that already. Hope all goes well
