Well, week 1 run 1 completed and i am so achey! But i'm so proud of myself! Does it get easier and do you start to ache less?π
Week 1 run 1π: Well, week 1 run 1 completed and... - Couch to 5K
Week 1 run 1π
Yes it gets easier, have you been stretching before you run it helped me, I'm on week 5 now.
And proud you should be - youβve just got the hardest bit done! Keep it up and good luck! ππ»π
Yes definitely. I ached after that run too. Slow down in the future and focus on getting the running right without worrying about speed and it helps with them aches too.
Congratulations and well done your on your way.
Yes!!! Keep going π
I am really trying to get my breathing right as when i done a lot of running two years ago i was always told in through your nosr and out through your mouth and i am really struggling!
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pace and stretching after every run.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done for getting started, that's the hardest part. It will get easier as your body gets used to this new running thing your asking it to do! It may take a week or three. Keep it slow and steady and if it's too hard slow down even more. Enjoy it. The plan does work, I'm the proof!
Bravo! And yes, I think wkr1 is the hardest - keep going and youβll find you body gets into the swing of it xxx
Yes, it definitely gets easier. I went from zero exercise to doing the plan and ached quite badly for about 3 or 4 weeks. But then the general aches disappeared and either I didn't ache at all or it was a specific muscle or sets of muscles that could be targeted. All the very best with the plan. You will be amazed!
Well done π keep it slow and you must stretch after your run π
The first run is the hardest! Well done!
100% it gets easier.
Tips I've learned along the way are:
1. Stretch after each run
2. Keep it slow!
3. If you listen to music pick something you can mime too that doesn't have a fast beat. It helps keep you slow and steady and you can tell you're going too fast if your struggling to mime along.
Personally I found week 1 and 2 the hardest due to finding my pace, going to fast and over exhausting myself thinking it was a race and not stretching properly but once you learn from the first few mistakes and find what works for you it gets easier.
Good luck! ππ»ββοΈ
I was achy and exhausted for the rest of the day after all my week 1 runs. Donβt worry it doesnβt last. Drink plenty of water and youβll soon adjust! Well done for starting and enjoy the journey!
I have just completed W2R3 and listened to the advice on this group, so I will repeat the weeks until I'm comfortable as Ive never run before. I have slowed down as suggested, so would pass that advice on too. Well Done!
