Hi, I did my first yesterday! Slow is the way to go...easy jog - speed means nothing! It's not so bad if you take it slow! Good luck, run 2 for me tomorrow!

That's reassuring to hear thank you. Good luck to you too.

Learn to go from brisk warmup walk to slower run and you’ll be fine. If you start to feel puffed, just slow down some more!

Will do thanks for the encouragement.

Hello and a warm welcome!

I'm currently on week 5. Everyone will tell you to take it as slow as you possibly can. Keep your knees low and your feet under you. I learned to pace myself by imagining someone at a brisk walk beside me whilst I moved in a jogging motion.

You will find all the helpful information you will need on the pinned posts on the forum home page.

Good luck with your running and I look forward to reading about your adventures x

Welcome. 👏🏼 I was so unsure when I started that I didn’t tell anyone - but it’s fine. You will be amazed when you look back after even a couple of runs. And there is lots of helpful advice here when needed. As others have said, just take it gently. Forget Mo Farah for the moment and think Snail. 🐌 Enjoy. 🎉

Snail it is then thanks for your support.

Even a snail could leave me in its wake but there’s nothing like the feeling of achievement you’ll get when you finish every run as you progress. You’re all prepared, so enjoy 😊

Well done as well on joining. Another tip is to follow others that are starting at the same time as you so you can check in on each other and get you through the first weeks. Some day will be easier than others and I found it very helpful!

First of all welcome to a great forum and well done for making a start!

If you’re at all like me, I hadn’t run since school and was very self conscious of people laughing at me. They didn’t. In fact they didn’t even notice me gasping my way round the park! Even if you get a second glance, remember that you’re doing it and they Just wish they had the courage.

Trust the plan, it works, and relax. Don’t try to set a new world record. You’ll find your pace, but it may take a couple of runs to nail it. Most of all though enjoy it. Sounds like you have a nice area to run, so head up and look around.

Good luck and once again welcome!😊😊

Thank you so much this is the start of a whole new experience for me so I am looking forward to it tbh. If I don't try I'll never know what I can achieve.

Just enjoy it. Nice and slow is the key. Have Faith in the plan let us know how it goes!

Don't worry about your speed, a steady pace is best. Listen to the advice from your coach and enjoy your achievements. You can do it!

Definitely as slow as you can go and you’ve got it, we are all looking forward to hearing how it went 😊

Lots of luck - and to all of you just starting out😊. That was me a mere 3 months ago and although I cannot yet manage 5K in 30 minutes, 30 minutes actual running now seems the norm for me!

How did it go? I did my 3rd today but my first alone outside near my house. 1 run was with a friend who introduced me to couch to 5k, second one was on a hotel treadmill and so this morning was daunting! I’m not a good runner, but did the full circuit, 8 mns broken up by 90 seconds brisk walking and a warm up and cool down walk, only 4K steps. I think breathing is key, but i’m terrible at it, guess I’ll learn as I continue! I liked having the coach telling me to keep going via the app rather than music... I think that is mainly because I’m starting. Good luck with yours!

Well done. Go slow and the breathing will gradually settle itself. 👍😊

Go for it!

Don't think. Just do - you'll be fine - use the app. I didn't think I would ever run either. I'm up at 10k now after 2 or so months of installing the app. Believe!

Congratulations. It took me from 8.00am till 3.50pm to actually leave the house last week. But after reading so many supportive msgs and advice I did it,like you. Today I’m on w2r1. I’m a bit nervous but I can just do my best. Slow slow slow is definitely the best.

Once again, well done you. 👍

well done on taking up this weirdly addictive hobby. Advice...a bad run is better than no run at all. Slow and steady and bling is addictive. ;)
