W5R3 - tick!

Well, it's done, and I feel amazing! Despite really looking forward to it, I was actually quite worried that I wouldn't keep going. Woke up at 6am thinking about it.

In reality, it was no problem at all. I actually think that for me it's more of a mental challenge than a physical one.

Anyhow, for those who are approaching this run with trepidation - don't. 5 weeks ago I was a proper couch potato with zero background in any kind of sport since I was (unsuccessfully) forced in high school. If I can do it, anyone can.

They definitely did! :)

Great job. I found it easier than the run before! First long run done... slow and steady into week 6 and you got this.

Yes indeed. Now I know I can complete the programme. I definitely had more to give at the end of the 20 minutes. :)

Well done you. Keep progressing I'm just a week in front. Wind has been ridiculously strong.

Yes. We were lucky this morning as my parkrun is in a valley so it didn't seem windy at all.

Wow - congratulations, you did it! 🏆

W5R3 planned for Tues 💪🏻🏃‍♀️ A bit delayed, but I will do it!

Well done you .... that is fantastic!

I’ve got mine on Monday & I’m absolutely dreading it - so much do I had thought of doing W5 R2 again!! 😱

Please don't dread it. The programme has prepared you for it - it's just a matter of accepting that and then putting one foot in front of the other. All the very best for it. :)

Nice pins! And you see those socks made you do it ;-)

Well done, it is a wonderful feeling and you should be very proud. I went out this am as I know you’d be running too so pushed myself out of bed and into parkrun!

Thank you - I so love parkrun... I really felt part of it today and so many people are saying hello and making positive comments. It really does drive me forward. :)

Yes, it's great support and in some way a good way to see how you are getting on with the programme whilst trying to keep at your pace and do what Laura says (although warning she does go quiet on w6r3 which put me off). I thought, well you get up each week and enjoy it so I'll give it a go too!

I do indeed. Some strange weirdo has inhabited my body as I actually cancelled a night out that was planned for yesterday because I didn't want to miss my parkrun! Who is this person???

Couchpotato2 profile image

I only had one small glass of wine 🍷 to run this morning with no ill effect! We are strange!

Well done! 👏🏻 I did mine today too and was really worried about ‘failing’. Such a good feeling at the end. Onwards and upwards! P.s. nice trainer/sock combo!

Chosen especially to clash violently! Congratulations on completing yours! We're proper runners now.

Just noticed the worm on the photo, did it run too?

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to Couchpotato2

It came in 8 minutes before me! Lol. I didn't even notice that. Haha

Couchpotato2 profile image
Couchpotato2Graduate in reply to Pianism

Haha it would surely be faster than me too!

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to Couchpotato2

Lol. My time is veeeeery slow. But decreasing week on week.

Couchpotato2 profile image
Couchpotato2Graduate in reply to Pianism

I think that’s the main thing. I managed just under 45 minutes today and I hoping to decrease by a minute each time until I do it in 10 minutes. Too ambitious? Ok maybe 35ish then (I’ll take 40)

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to Couchpotato2

I really want to get to sub 30 minutes but I reckon that'll take a while. I'm at 41.30 at the moment (down from 47.30!) and would like to get below 40 minutes by the end of the programme. :)

Couchpotato2 profile image

41 is not veeeery slow. But what a progression, you’ve alreay taken 6’ off the time, that’s great! You’ll get to 40 np!
