I’ve had a week off so far due to back pain, and now have come down with an asthma related chest infection. I had just done the first run of week 6 prior to the backache, and it’s usually 1-2 weeks for the chest infections to clear.
What do people recommend about where to start when I’m back to being able to run again? I thought maybe restart at the beginning of week 5?

You won’t lose much fitness in a couple of weeks. I’d give week 6 ago, but don’t panic if you don’t manage it, just drop back a week. Hope you feel well again very soon.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on getting back after a break.......... basically, suck it and see.
It depends how long in total you’ve been out... more than a couple of weeks and a step back is going to help. It takes two weeks out to start losing fitness... right now you’re probably still stronger than at your last start line. Whichever run you take on when you’re back, just take it really slowly and gently. Don’t over worry it... you’ll be better than you were 6 weeks ago regardless... get fully over the infection and get back on it at whatever point you feel comfortable... this is your journey, and *spoiler alert* those 30 minute runs will come and they’re amazing.
