Welcome. There’s some big motivation in your reason for running that 10k... your dad would be so proud to see you cross that finish line.

Assuming you’re a brand new runner... trust the C25K plan, run nice and slowly so that you can speak in full sentences, and get good running shoes as soon as you can by going to your local specialist running store and having a gait analysis.

You have plenty of time to be 10k ready by May... so don’t try to take any shortcuts. It’s all about doing this safely and getting to that start line. Enjoy your journey... you can do this... you can run 10k... you can do anything.

I used to run 10ks for charity quite often years ago, but the broke both my ankles luckily not at the same time. Also had other illnesses that set me back as well You are right will take it steady and slowly build up my fitness. Thanks for all the great advice.

That’s amazing, that you’re ready to begin again after setbacks like that. I think beginning again can be harder than beginning at all, because the memories can easily become baggage — so congratulations on starting over, and for such a meaningful cause.

Like @UnfitNoMore said, a great thing about beginning again is you also already have hard proof you can do this. So go for it: we’re with you, past C25K and all the way to that 10K! (Hey we might even meet on the Bridge to 10K group!)
