Albeit during an aborted 10k run due to a Hamstring niggle, I was more than happy to to take my first sub 30 5k as a consolation.
The first part of the run was six times around a track, which was a novelty for me, then the rest ploughing through slippery, sticky uneven grass which eventually took its toll on the old legs.....tightness in the right Hamstring forced me to pull up as I wasn’t prepared to risk being laid up again!
Happy running all 🏃♂️🏃♀️

Fantastic and very well done. I have not achieved a time like that in 18 months. I’m working on a new PB time for Parkrun, but am months away from achieving the pace yet. Great to see you getting there.
Thanks Damien, my Parkrun PB is 31:09 so I’m hoping to replicate yesterday’s run some time soon. I’m not a natural runner so I have to dig deep to get there 😊
I hear you. I’m the same as you. Not a natural runner, will never be fast and really need to dig deep. My 5K PB was at a road race. It took all I had to get a time of 29:56. I was shattered but thrilled.
My Parkrun PB is 31:04. So I’m working currently on a little project. 26 Parkruns done so far, I want to get into the Parkrun 50 club in 2019. I also want to go sub 31, 30, 29 and I can’t imagine getting to 28. But that’s my BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal).
But first off the list hopefully will be a PB under 31 mins.
Same here, my previous best was 30:22 during a 5ml road race which made this run all the more satisfying, half of it was run on a very boggy, slippery surface.
