Week 2 run 2

Hi! I did wk 2 run 2 today and had to stop midway and walk due to awful pain in my left hip...it’s been sore all day since. Has anyone else had this! I am a wee bit overweight hence doing this so my poor hips maybe coping with the strain and new requests of them! Just felt very tearful and crushed today as I’ve been so motivated by this. I don’t want pain to affect carrying on....x

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Most new runners aches and pains are caused primarily by the impact of running, so do all you can to minimise it. Slow down, avoid heelstriking, keep footfall under your body, not out in front, run on grasss or treadmill and wear proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop.

Enjoy your journey

During week 2 or 3 I had a couple of days where I was really struggling to walk due to a pain in my left hip, however, it was fine when I ran. I persevered with it and it cleared up by itself. If it hurts when you’re running though I’d give it a rest.

Hope that hip settles... IannodaTruffe’s advice and links are, as always, great. Well done getting out there again... hope your next run is pain free.

Follow those links and cheer up...:)

The aches and pains of the newness of this are common:)

Warm up well.... take it very gently and do try to relax. There is so much to think about an focus on.. we can , without realising it, hold ourselves very tightly and thump down a tad.

You will do this and we will be right beside you. So.. dry the tears... big breath..and after your rest day...on you go!
