Couldn't agree with you more. In fact whilst I was in the shower today I was thinking how still to this day my favourite running moment is when I conquered running for 20 minutes. It's been down hill and slowly running a little bit further each time after that.
How? Well I guess it's because I have Been doing my 3x30 min runs every week and when it feels right going a bit longer or a bit further and eventually I got to 6k on one of my runs. I then added the occasional 6k run into my routine whilst continuing to do my usual stuff.
Last night I had already decided to do a 6k and at the end just kept saying to myself "just a bit further" and once I had gone so far there was no way i was stopping till my phone said 7k
A bit achy today but now hopefully my 6k runs wont seem as bad
You'll get there but like the c25k programme sometimes you have to overcome the head gremlins that tell you to stop at a certain point. My time wasn't fast at 49 mins but it was all about getting there not how quick I could get there
I graduated just a couple of weeks ago and now I run 30 min (that in my case means about 4,2 Km) 3 times a week...sometimes quite easily, sometimes not.
Anyway when Laura (yes: I still use the podcastπ) tells me to stop I always feel relieved. Now reading your nice posts I understand (and strongly believe!) that I will be able to improveπ
I can quite easily convince myself to only do 3 or 4k on the way round with a myriad of excuses. Sometimes my head wins and sometimes I win. Last night I won. Depends on how much I fight it.
I also set myself weekly goals like 16k in total or 100mins of running. That also helps
It is weird how some days you feel like you could run a marathon and others get 200 metres down the road and want to give it neck
I love the freedom, I love the health benefits and enjoy being out on my own
All good here thanks... still running & enjoying it! π
Ahh, so true... what you say about sometimes feeling you can run a marathon & others feeling like you need to stop after 200m... thatβs me all over! π
They try every run to talk me out of it right up to the point at which I go one way for a 4k run and another way for a 5 or 6k run. I usually win but not always lol πββοΈππ£
3 months ago I was still trying to convince myself that I wouldn't die if I run for 8 mins without stopping.
I have always followed the programme and then once my 9 weeks was up did 3 runs a week sometimes 30mins sometimes 5k then gradually increased it when it felt right.
